At the moment, I'm accepted at both Tufts and Shenandoah. I had been waitlisted at Shenandoah, so had spent the last month learning more about the program at Tufts, starting to make plans to move, etc. At this point I'm fairly sure that's where I want to go. However, I live in DC, so I could do Shenandoah without moving. I'm accepted at the Winchester campus, so it wouldn't be a fun commute, but my understanding is that it would only be once a week, so that's not too terrible. I also have a family, so moving for Tufts would mean relocating my kids and would depend on my partner finding a job in the Boston area.

In reality, though, I don't know as much about Shenandoah, because I thought I wasn't going to get in. Clearly I need to call them and talk with someone about the program so I'm making this decision in as informed a way as possible. In the meantime, does anyone have information on either program that might help in this decision?

I don't know much about either school, but if I was in your situation I would chose Shenandoah so that I wouldn't have to relocate. Boston is an EXTREMELY expensive place to live (my best friend currently lives there). I would also choose Shenandoah because I heard that it was a great school (an OT tech I met was going to school... that's how I originally heard of it). I was going to apply there myself, but I missed their deadline🙁 ... If you have time to weigh on the decision you should definitely look more into Shenandoah before you decide on Tufts. Best of luck!

Thanks! A friend of mine went to Shenandoah in a different program and said the OT students were pretty happy. I'd just love to hear from people who are currently in it. Unfortunately, DC's not so cheap either, so it's really just the hassle of moving (and relocating kids, etc) that I'd save by staying. (assuming we can continue to pay our mortgage while I'm in school-- if not, we move anyway)

Did you decide which school you're going to attend?

No, not yet. Still don't have the official letter from Shenandoah, so that buys me little more time...
