Hi! I was fortunate to receive acceptance from both of these schools, and I would be considered OOS for both. I am not sure if I want to specialize or not. Community outreach is very important to me and externships abroad as well. Overall, I know I want to live in Boston and settle there but choosing a school based off location isn't the smartest decision

Tufts Pros:
- Really strong clinically.
- Extremely diverse --> different perspectives & mindsets.
- Facilities are really great.
- Community outreach + externships.
- Boston is my ideal location.

Tufts cons:
- Expensive
- Large class

UCSF Pros:
- No ranking
- P/F
- In-state tuition after a year
- Cheaper
- Strong community outreach.
- Reputable for research

UCSF:
- SF living expenses are INSANE. My cousin did her residency at UoP and was paying an insane amount of $$ for a studio.
- City isn't too safe.
- Not so strong clincally?

Area around UCSF is much safer and cheaper than UOP

Despite high living expenses UCSF (~$250k) will still be cheaper than Tufts in the long run (~$540k). You can apply for the cost of living supplement ($2.5k), CalFresh (EBT), MediCal, etc to help with expenses
