I am an intern at Tufts in Boston. I wanted to quell some fears some might have had about applying to here. There was a rumor a year ago that the program was going to be taken over by childrens hospital boston, that is no longer the case. The hospital has a good solid new chief of peds. The program is making great strides, it has a nice new ED, which you'll get to spend lots of time in as an intern. The hospital is a very welcoming place, all the attendings for the most part are known on a first name basis. The acuity of the patients is very high, so you get to see some really cool stuff that you may not see at other hospitals, something i didn't really think about when i was applying. The residents all get along great most of us that aren't on call go out on thursday nites. Oh yeah, and for the coffee diehards, Dunkin Donuts is in the hospital. We just got back from a cool retreat north of boston. And one of the best parts of the program is that its located in BOSTON, there's sports, sports and more sports.. and then history the birth of the independence war. There are many great bars and while cost of living is higher than some places its worth it for the great time that you have in the city on your time off. I also have to say that even as an intern there is a good amount of time off. Most months you have two weekends off. Good luck with the interview season if you have questions about the program let me know.

I echo Redpiolet- I am also an intern at Tufts-NEMC. Word on the street about possible mergers with Children's are about 6 years old- old rumors die hard. I find the program extremely stable with strong leadership. Best of all, the residents are incredible and living in downtown Boston is great. Feel free to ask me questions about the Floating...
