Hey guys - I'm Kendra and I'm new to the site. Currently I am a predmed student double majoring in biological sciences and history at the University of Calgary. I just had a question about tuition rates in Canada vs the US -- any body know the differences, if there are any??

There is an example from McGIll University.

And this is from Drexel College of Medicine.

Just a small example. I am sure that canadian medical school is worlds cheaper then american medical school, especially for canadians. I mean if you could go to McGill for $3,000 canadian versus a similar school in the U.S. for about $55,000 canadian what would you choose?

If you're a Canadian citizen, then med schools in Canada are much cheaper than in the US. Visit your school's undergrad advising center and ask to see an MSAR, which lists stats for all US & Canadian allopathic med schools.

U of Calgary med school is about $13k a year. There are quite a few Canadian schools that are only $2k or $3k a year for residents of the province.

Private med schools in the US run well over $40k a year. Public med schools, for in-state residents, run from about $10k to over $30k. For out-of-state (or Canadian) students, the same public schools typically run $25k to $40k, some as high as $60k.

Does anybody know if there's any preference in US schools for Canadians vs. other nationalities? It looks to me like about 3% of all US matriculants are international, and that includes all countries, and I think most went to undergrad in the US.

Best of luck to you.
