so ive heard a nasty rumor that tulane accepted more than they usually do this year, so the waitlist wont move nearly as much....of course, this is probably all hearsay, but do any tulane students know whether this is true? i do find it interesting that there hasnt been any waitlist movement on SDN, so maybe it is true. in past years, its come a lot earlier.

if one of you nice tulane students wouldnt mind, could you swing by admissions and get the inside scoop about the acceptable range this year. im sure it would make a lot of people happy.

you rock!

I believe some med schools accept for more seats than they have and expect that not everyone will accept and matriculate.

It was that way with a few of the schools I managed to get interviews at.

I called Tulane a couple days ago and they said movement on the waitlist has been happening, but it has been really slow. Does anyone know how many people are usually taken off the acceptance range to fill Tulane's class? And, for those who have been accepted off the waitlist for this year's class, when did you hear? Thank you!

I hate to break it to you, but once you're in med school, you no longer care about the waitlist and the admissions process. 😉 Seriously. I dont' care if my school has no one on the waitlist vs everyone who interviewed and I don't care about how many people will get accepted at the last minute.

So my point is this--This probably isn't the best forum to ask this question. You probably have a better chance asking a pre-med who has called the admissions office.

But good luck on it! :luck:

I asked Dr. Pisano last year how many people they generally end up accepting to fill the class. I've forgotten the actual number, but I'm sure I posted it in pre-allo somewhere. I'm not sure you should rely on last year's figures though, since it sounds like this year is different.

only interest I have is in the transfer movement. I've been told to wait for another month or so once grades are in and stuff.
😱

samoa, would you mind swinging by the admissions office and doing a little research for me> i really want to go to tulane next year, btu i would like to know if i have no chance. thanks.

lol...samoa's got enough on her plate right now (as do her classmates 😉). call the admissions office yourself! keep telling them you're interested! they'll take it into consideration, believe me.

Thanks DrBravesgirl! Merkon, it's not that we're brushing you off, it's just that all of us are trying to juggle an enormous number of things. Plus it really does help you to make the call yourself.

I've been in touch with my interviewer since interviewing there and he says that they did indeed invite more people than usual while Dr. Pisano was out of the office for a lil while. There has begun to be some movement, but it apparently was coming a little more slowly than in previous years. I guess it is a matter of hanging in there and keeping them updated!
