Recently received acceptances from TUNCOM and UNECOM. I also recently had an interview at PCOM which would be my number one choice. Unfortunately, TUNCOM (Touro Nevada) requires a $2,000 deposit within two weeks of acceptance and therefore I will have to make a decision between TUNCOM and UNECOM in the next couple weeks. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong or add anything to the below.
TUNCOM
pros:
Location - Really like Henderson and tons of outdoor activites around
Curriculum - integrated classes recorded
Clinical rotations - all within 40 minutes of campus
COMLEX Pass rate - 98%
Match rate - 100%
Dean seems like a go getter actually making changes to curriculum and student life to prepare for Boards
Cons:
Cost avg indebtedness - 300k
Reputation - ?
Very little research opportunities
very little early clinical exposure
All classes in one building with no windows
UNECOM
pros:
Location - probably the most beautiful campus of any med school; lots of outdoor activities
Curriculum - seems to change frequently; most classes recorded but this is organized by students
Reputation - seems to be more recognized/established
Research - some research opporunities
Match rate - 98%
Cons:
Clinical rotations - seem like a free for all? Year 3 Complex lottery system + year 4 figure it out on your own?
Campus administration - Had conversations with current students who are not satisfied with admin/lack of listening to current students
COMLEX Pass rate - 94% w/ COMSAE
