Hi everyone,

So far in this cycle I have one acceptance to a school that ranks 3rd on my list of 25 schools. I haven't heard back from many schools so far (only 4/25). I am happy with my acceptance at my 3rd choice school. I am trying to figure out if I should keep my other II at lower priority schools, or should I turn them down?

the other 3 schools have higher tuition, BUT have lower costs of living so in theory it "should" balance out.

I am only thinking of interviewing @ the other schools to see what the scholarship award is. Since I am anonymous here, I applied to schools exclusively by the programs I liked AND in cities I could imagine living in.
After program quality and urban location settings, my next priority is tuition costs. Maybe if I attend that school they would give me a higher scholarship, especially as I am a URM....

Im torn between, " I wont know if I dont go", and being in debt already by applying to 25 schools out of pocket, I dont really want to pay for a flight, airBnB, etc.

what do you think? please let me know 🙂 Ciao!

Personally, I think if you have done your due diligence on what school you want to attend, then turning down II and withdrawing from those you wouldnt attend in lieu of your acceptance.

There is the argument that you may get scholarship, aid, etc. For most students this is nearly a pipe dream. Schools are not obligated to provided Financial Aid info prior to final acceptance. Some that do provide the aid info may still not be giving out scholarship money until after final acceptance.

Now would go to a personally lower ranked place if they gave you a full ride? really its up to you to go this route

I just tell acceptees just move on if you got your one of your top schools.

This is exactly my cross road decision 🙁

I would go to a personally lower ranked school for a full ride, keeping in mind that I am happy with what all programs offer, class sizes, and urban setting location. But aren't full ride rare to come by?

If a lower ranked school gave me 75% scholarship I would attend even if my #3, or #1 choice gave 50%. Tuition is the next priority. I guess I have some thinking to do . But thank you for putting into the perspective of a "pipe dream". realistically getting a gull ride may be hard and rare...
