I was recently accepted to Tuskegee!!! Unfortunately I was unable to see Auburn where the students live but I will be returning to the area before school starts to find housing. I came from a much larger undergrad and I am a little concerned with how small and isolated Tuskegee is. What do the Tuskegee vet students do for fun when they are not studying? Is it difficult to meet other graduate students at Tuskegee or Auburn? I didn't get to hear much from the student body so I am looking for input!! Thanks![]()
I came from a small undergrad. and I am thankful that TU is small. The professors know you by name and not by a number. Tuskegee is isolated, but I don't suggest hanging out in TU....Not the best place to have a picnic! When we are not studying....ummm....lol...I go home (back to GA) most weekends. There is a huge dog park in AU that we go to quite a bit to let the dogs play. Our class puts on a lot of social events...sometimes we go bowling, cook dinner, etc. When you get here, you find out who you get along best with and you kind have different groups that do different stuff. For example, there is a group of people that go out downtown when we do not have tests...I personally don't go out much at all, but I go out to eat if a group is going. You really don't have tons of free time and when you do have free time, it is nice to just do nothing but relax...You will spend a lot of time in the pit first year, and that takes up a lot of your free time!
About meeting other graduates: If you are talking about other vet. students at TU....If you are a first year, you will see the 2nd years a lot and that is it...I don't hardly know any students that a 3rd or 4th years. They stay over in the clinics and we don't go over there hardly at all. Last semester, TU and AU vet. students had a party together at a club in Auburn. They are trying to build the bridge btw the two schools, but there was not much bonding going on at the party....it was in a night club and you can only imagine how loud it was....so there really no mixing of the schools. As far as regular graduate students....no. We stay in the vet. school and don't see many people other than vet. related students. Hope this answers most of your questions.
