Does anyone know what it means to be a TUSPM alternate? I was informed by temple earlier on that i have been accepted as an alternate student. They said they will inform me by June whether or not i will be given admission or not. Obviously i am very disappointed about their decision.

Has anyone else also been appointed as an alternate? Any advice or comments given would be highly appreciated.

Thanks

I agree with the prior answers but also have a question of my own. Since you haven't even entered professional school yet, or for that matter haven't been accepted, isn't it a little premature to have the screen-name "doctorpod"?? It seems to me that you may have jumped the gun a little😕

First off this thread has nothing to do with a name i created to post for advice on a forum.

Second, i feel very confident that eventually i will get accepted into a professional school and succeed like other professional Podiatrist.

Lastly, thanks for making my day ****tier from what it has already been today. I would like to remind you that Karma is indeed a bitch.

The pre-pod forum definitely has a reputation for some relatively nasty and unnecessary commentary. I sincerely hope such statements are not due to bitterness toward one's chosen profession! Or perhaps you just get off making someone's day "****tier"- let's hope not, Dr. Attending, DPM.

Doctorpod, kudos on your confidence and cajones for replying with what's on your mind. I'd say your attitude is prime for success in medicine given the significant number of big egos to contend with... Best of luck with Temple!

Here's to you, doctorpod! Keep your head up! It's appalling to see an attending physician creeping into the pre-pod forum and picking on a trivial matter such as one's chosen username!

You have got to be kidding me PADPM.

You took time away from your busy practice to compose a post criticizing a pre-pod student you do not know over their choice of screen name on an an Internet forum.

That was incredibly petty of you and frankly I think we should expect more.

How do you expect us to respect you when you do things like this?

Apparently you missed my point. It was about a little humility and a little constructive criticism. I think it's great that someone has confidence, etc., but I also believe it's wise to crawl before you walk.

And as far as taking time away from my practice, please take note of the time of my post(s).

As I thought about my initial knee jerk reaction/reply which addressed the OP's screen-name, I realized why I even brought this up.

A few years ago, I was contacted by a newly accepted podiatric student who asked if it would be OK to shadow me for a week or two. He had recently been accepted and had not started school yet. I said yes and we met and the first day in the office he was rather aggresssive, asking my staff questions that I felt were slightly inappropriate regarding income, their salaries, how much they "guessed" I earned, etc. But I let that slide and chalked it up to his eagerness and inexperience.

At lunch time I offered to take him out and as we were about to get into my car, he asked me to wait for a second while he ran to his car to get something. I looked over at his car (it was his, not his dad's, etc.) and HIS license plates were "FT SRGN"!!!!!

The kid hadn't even started his first day of school yet!! A few months later, another student rotated through our office, and I inquired about the kid with the vanity plates and I was told he didn't make it throught the first semester of school.

So that's the reason for my initial reply.
