So FA says they are pts with ketoacidotic diabetes and leukemia. It explains that fungi proliferate in blood vessel walls when there is excess ketone and glucose which makes sense, but why leukemia?

I get that pts with leukemia has compromised immune system, but so do HIV patients and other many dz with immune compromised people.

Many thanks in advance.

A quick literature search pointed to severe neutropenia secondary to therapeutic treatment of leukemia.
