just got my official acceptance letter today.
2 yrs in Amarillo and 2 in Dallas.👍
has to respond by March 24.
still thinking if i should go TSU or TT.....help!!~~
Any opinions?😕

I am from Houston (UH) by the way.

Seriously go to Tech. It is a much better school. It gives you flexibility if you decide to do other things besides retail.

Also you never hear about Tech e-mailing its undergrad pre-pharm students to tell them there is a good chance that they will lose their accreditation.

Plus didn't TSU screw you over last year?

BTW I didn't even apply to TSU so I have no vested interest.

hahaha....seems like everyone knew about that.
where did you get that e-mail thing from?
I really dun want to go retail after graduation...that's what makes it a dilemma to me!!~~

pretty much CAREER VS LOVE/FAMILY🙁

i just had my interview with them a couple of weeks ago. i would be very cautious of this school. i have a pharmacist friend and his tech just completed his first year there. anyhow, the tech received a letter from tsu a couple of months back warning the pharmacy students that they might lose their accreditation. ive heard from my pharmacist friend that his tech is now trying to transfer to another pharmacy program but the classes hes completed his first year probably wont transfer. ive talked to a couple of pre-pharm students attending tsu for their pre-req's and they said its true about the letters and the accreditation. but, they said if that happens, it will take about 5-6 years to lose the accreditation. i wont be sticking around to gamble on my chances.

just my 2 cents.

Its on the first page of the TSU thread, also I saw it two other places as well. I'll see if I can remember where I saw them.

if it was me, i'd go to tx tech w/o even questioning TSU. at least you're still in state. it's only four years, not like forever, and your family will always support you. congrats on your acceptances!

i wish txtech had offered me an interview! 😳

im assuming that party already lives in houston?

considering that the cost of apt rent of $600 x 4 yrs= $28.8k + cost of living away from home (food, etc) more in expenses that you would have to pay back in the long haul as opposed to living and eating at home.

just my 2 cents (business major). then you add it the the loan that ur already taking and the interest that builds on it, it gets pretty pricy, which is why i wanted to do the last 2 yr in dallas(home) if possible.

anyways that it assuming i get into tech in the first place. either way its a better dilema to be in then us who are waiting:meanie:

If you get a roommate it won't cost $600. Heck, if you get two it will be nominal.

A friend of mine contacted Tech to see what was going on... They told him that Abilene's first set (the 15th) had been reviewed once already. Those who did not get in will be reviewed again on Tuesday.

😡

You obviously had enough going for you to get an interview. That means that your package will be reviewed not just once, but at least a couple of more times as they interview more people.

You may feel that you interview poorly, but remember, the person interviewing you doesn't necessarily know what is going on inside your head and may not have noticed your nerves as much as you did. You may not be the best interviewee in the world, but I would lay money that you are not the worst.

I say all this because until you get a rejection letter or the class actually starts, you are not out of the running. Hang in there. Don't let self-doubt get the best of you. And if I recall, you are still waiting to hear from at least one more school, aren't you? There are people still hoping for even one interview.

Can I clarify something... there isn't a such thing as a rejection letter that I know of to anywhere I am applying.

If someone ultimately is not accepted their online status will not change anymore from what he/she sees now to my knowledge (assuming you have interviewed already).

I know we are trying to cheer Knick up... but lets not get confused here... their is no rejection to pharmacy school... just a lack of acceptance.

In some cases students are admitted even in the last weeks before the start of school (due to others dropping or changing)... so pharmacy schools do not reject anyone but rather keep them in that "Interviewed" limbo state indefinitely until school begins at which point no one needs a painful letter to tell them they didn't make it.

Thank you. That is nice to know.

Did you apply to UH? They do send out rejection letters.

Agree. UH does send out rejection letters two weeks after your interview. I hope I don't get one after mine.. eek

I know this is a TECH page, I am just commenting on the rejects. Southwestern OK, sent me a letter, a day after I called her and she said "I have your file right here", I didnt know that was code for "you suck".lol
but maybe better this time, but I did get a letter.

I did not apply to U of H ... that sounds harsh... but at least you know... that is one benefit.

How many of you guys who got into Tech are still hoping to get in somewhere else?

How many of you guys who got into Tech are still hoping to get in somewhere else?

Well, I'd be happy at Tech or UH, but I think it would nice to get into UH only b/c it's closer to Austin (where I live). On the other hand, I'm so happy I got into Tech that I don't even care about any other schools at this point.

Knick, I think you'll get in eventually. A couple of people have said that most of the people from the early admissions interviews get accepted. I know it's hard (I was in your shoes a few days ago), but it'll be worth it.

Well, Tech is the only school I applied to, it's the only school I want to go to. I'll either be smart for saving money on other applications, or stupid for not increasing my chances.

I've applied to Tech and UH. And honestly, IF I'm accepted at both, I don't know which I really want to go to. They both have a lot of positives going for them.

Right now, I would just be happy to see that "accept offer" choice again.

If I'm looking at the schedule right, Tech does not go on spring break until the 29th (http://www.ttuhsc.edu/sop/AcademicInfo/docs/AcademicCalendar0708.pdf), so does the AdCom meet again next week for the candidates from the 22nd and 29th (and those from the interviews prior to that as well)?

How many of you guys who got into Tech are still hoping to get in somewhere else?

I have my interview for UH on the 19th. If I get in there, I will most certainly go there!! So pray that I get in there haha

So is this also when the second group (interviewed the 22nd and 29th) is going to be reviewed? Or were we being reviewed this past week?

I have another interview I have to confirm by March 24th. If we are reviewed on the 18th, we probably won't find out until the 25th, because that's what happened with the first group - reviewed on March 4th, found out on March 11th.

Do you guys think this sounds right? And if so, would it be okay for me to call on the 24th and ask if I was accepted or not? I really don't want to go to the other interview if I don't have to. Thanks!

I just interviewed in Abilene on Friday. Mike Nall told us that the first ED group was already reviewed and they accepted 8 students. The second ED group will be reviewed on Tuesday and they will accept another 8 students and have those decisions sent out by March 31st.

Were the 8 accepted students all interviewed at Abilene? Or they were included those in Amarillo too? I can't imagine they accepted only 8 students for the first round.

One of my friends is stilling waiting for the acceptance letter and I hope she will get in and be my roommates......😛

I wonder if he meant 8 people had been accepted to the Abilene campus?? When I interviewed, they said when they met for the first review date for ED they would accept 30-35 people, and another 30-35 the second time.

I'm sorry for not clarifying. Only 8 were accepted to the Abilene campus. Plus, Mike Nall said that whichever campus you interview at is the one you will most likely be at should you be accepted.

Hey guys, this is my first post, but I've been reading these pages for quite sometime now...just never had anything worth posting. Just wanted to say that I interviewed in Abilene on Feb. 15 and got my acceptance letter today! Oddly enough though, my acceptance later came to my house back home (not sure how they got that address), but my interview letter had come here...go figure. Anyway, I am super excited and even more happy now that I can cancel my interview with UH on Wednesday.

Congrats~!!!:hardy: So you are going to be in Abilene campus right?
well...just curious, what makes you choose TT over UH?

CONGRATS!!! 😍

There went my theory of them only looking at out of state and international for Abilene. So, only eight people? The fact that 25% of them were out of state and international seems unfair to me.

I put lots of effort into obtaining my GPA and PCAT score. I've put a lot of time into the community as well as volunteering at a pharmacy. All of this and what reward do I get? Nothing.

Really? Where did u get that piece of info from?😕

Of the 8 accepted from Abilene on the 15th, there was one out of state (Bubblechasincat is from California) and one international student that I've talked to (who is from Hong Kong, but did undergraduate work here).

That international student is from Hong Kong? Does that person register for sdn too? If so, I would want to meet him....it's always nice to meet ppl form your own country....😀

But I think that was just an coincidence...I dun think they favor those students first....

i had no doubt that guy from HK would get accepted, that leaves 2 asians from that group that hasnt got accepted, me being one of them😡

congrats, r u the super tall guy from aggie land that had a ribbon on ur lapel?

Just curious, why did you not doubt him?

haha....yeah, i guess I am the super tall guy with the ribbon (or pin) on the lapel. I was admitted to Abilene for all four years. I really liked the program, location, and the newness of everything in Abilene. I guess more than anything, it's the location that put TTU over UH for me atleast. Though, I think UT is still my #1.

Another review from Tech tomorrow... I also get reviewed by UT on Thursday. By the 25th I should know if my hopes are pretty much riding on A&M.

I interviewed in Amarillo on the 22nd and I thought we were supposed to get letters today but I haven't received one. Does anyone know when the letters go out for that group?

To the pharm students- do you guys recommend getting a new laptop? Mine is a Toshiba and is about to be 1 or 2 years old this summer. I'm not sure about getting the Dell since I've heard not so good things about it.

I've been using Dell Inspiron E1505 for 3 years and so far it's pretty good. I recently bought another XPS...is it okay to use in school? There are too many laptops in my house so I dun want to waste money on an extra one....😛

People who interviewed on the 22nd won't be reviewed until tomorrow. People who are accepted won't hear for probably a week or so.

By the way, how is it that you are so confident that you are going to be accepted?

Just curious, why did you not doubt him?

he was very charismatic, talkative, friendly to everyone and staff, and self-confidence to the brink of arrogance. oh and i think he was very intelligent to go with that (90+ on pcat?)..

anyways good luck to the both of us eh. Mr. Aggie (texag) were u in the corp of cadets? i think stuff like that always plays a role, but regardless, i was in the same group in the final exercise. hopefully i'll hear some positive news along with knicker and meet u there!

yes i was in the corps of cadets. by the way, i meant to mention this the other day, but my letter was post marked on the 7th and didn't get to my hometown until the 15th....so don't put everything on a date you think the letters should be coming out.

My 2 cents on laptops:

If you are fairly competent with computer hardware and software (to the point of say being able to build your own desktop), then chances are that you aren't going to need to contact IT every other second b/c "Internet Explorer keeps popping up pop-ups and freezing." In this case, get whatever you want b/c you won't need IT's help to repair the problem.

Now, some people claim you can "get a way better deal by getting something else" or that "Apple is soooo awesome!1!1" or my personal favorite "Dell sucks b/c Windows keeps freezing on it (after I pillaged it with malware)." At the time I got my D820 a year ago, AFTER THE DISCOUNT there was no way to get a comparable brand new laptop for anywhere near that amount. The market conditions may be quite different this year... shop around.

Apple is NOT anywhere near all that is advertised and you'll have to run VMWare Fusion on it with (gasp) Windows installed on the virtual machine to get the functionality you need. So I don't recommend that.

Finally, if you've got a computer that you've purchased within the last couple years that works fine, just keep using it. I remember last year that it was recommended we get a dual core proc, 128MB+ Video card, 100GB HDD, and 1GB of RAM... Most people ended up with a core 2 duo, 2GB of RAM, 512MB vid card... and need no where near that... You're supposed to be flipping through a couple web browser tabs/windows, powerpoint, and word, not rendering video!

This may be a silly question, but I just wanted to make sure...
Do Texas Tech have rotation sites in Houston?😕

Not that I recall them talking about. Amarillo, Lubbock and Dallas is what they talked about and it was on your deployment choices form.

Are people still getting interview invites?
Why wasn't I invited?!🙁

aren't 22nd interviewees supposed to hear anything yesterday/today? I haven't seen anything new updated on the website. So, I guess my chance is slipping away one more time? 🙁

no invite yet here either. and i called them yesterday to check my status, they said that the latest that they would send out invites is april 10th. so we have until that day to wait. seems like forever.
