Does it matter what type of research is done during undergrad? I am a psychology major and will be doing research in health psychology for the upcoming spring semester and summer term before I graduate in August. In this type of research I will spend most of my time studying issues relevant to health psychology and sometimes interacting with patients who are ill at the hospital.
I've heard some students talk about their research experience in a physiolgy lab and they said that med schools love that kind of experience, but is research in any area valuable or do med schools only like to see something that is related to bio/chem?

From what I know, med schools like diversity when it comes to research. A former student from my undergrad school (now a physician) did do some research with Bio profs at our school, but he also did extensive research in Animal Behavior, studying and interacting with Orca Whales at the nearby splash park Marineland. Adcoms seem to like to know that you did more with your time in college than build a resume to get into med school.
