Hello fellow sdners,

I am going into first year of dental school this august. I am trying to save money by buying/borrowing certain materials/tools/instruments from my dentist. I was wondering which type of teeth (plastic, etc) are used by first year dental students. If it helps, i will be attending udm. Thanks everyone!

I don't know about that school specifically but I know at OU we did very little work on typodonts (with plastic teeth) as a first year. A little bit in the sim lab in the spring.

Also, be careful about buying early because sometimes the school may not allow you to "decline" new supplies from them if you already have them. They can just hand you some equipment and a bill and they expect you to pay it. Double check with the school first and make sure you're allowed to decline any supplies and equipment they try to give you that you already have.

For us at ucla, we used typodont teeth in every lab after first quarter. There are a lot of brands and not all teeth are the same so they might not fit.
