What is typical salary of an MD/PhD who's MD is in internal medicine? I just want a ballpark number. Also around how many hours do MD/PhDs work a week, is it around 60-70 hrs, like the amt of time that they spent in the lab during their MD/PhD tenure? Thanks.

I just got back from an NIH conference on this topic.

Your salary depends on what you do with your life. I'm assuming you are going after the "physician/scientist" track where you do 10-20% clinic 80% research.

Average starting salary for assistant professor = 130k

Work hours are very variable. 60 hrs/week is probably a good number. Good thing is there are NO night calls usually, and schedule is very flexible.
