I am starting the MOT program at St. Augustine in the Spring and I was wondering what I can expect for a typical schedule. I had asked at the interview but never seemed to get a straight answer. What kind of free time do you have outside of school (if any)? Is it still possible to maintain family and hobbies without a high stress level? I'm not going to be working, but I'm wondering how many of my commitments I'll need to wean out 🙂 Thanks!

hehehe...I just started this past summer and it is a decent amount of work to do. My summer classes were only 3 days a week, but I was taking Anatomy and a few other classes so I spent the rest of the days studying. However, I did manage to find some time to hang out at night on the weekend. It really depends on you and how you study, but that class takes a lot of time to prepare for. I really wouldn't suggest working or anything, though some people in my program during the summer went to school Mon-Wed, then worked some of the other days. Keep in mind Mon-Wed I had Anatomy like a million hours a day so by the time I was home I was exhausted and sometimes had to study when I got home. Now it's fall semester and I have class 5 days a week so it's different...I do have other hard classes that I have to study for like Kinesiology and Physiology, so again, I wouldn't really suggest working. If you get your work done and are diligent about it, you can make free time for yourself. In fact you need it to stay sane and not get burnt out with all of the studying you will do.

Occupational balance 😉
