Has anyone heard from University of the Pacific? My status changed to final review "allow 2 to 3 weeks for review". I have not had an interview. What does this mean? Thanks for your input 🙂

It seems as though they're starting to re-review the applications for interviews until March. This is probably the last round of interviews they'll be doing. I haven't gotten an interview invite either so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

You never know, you might get lucky being the last round of applicants the school invite for an interivew. Soem of my classmates got a phone call couple days before the last interview Pacific offeres and got in this year. Keep your fingers cross and good luck!

Was called and invited for an interview on Friday.

Anyone with the "Re-review in January" status on the UoP website been invited to an interview recently or have that status changed to something else?

I had the "re-review end of January" status earlier this month... a week later (still the first half of Jan) was called for an interview beginning of Feb.

CADentGirl, what were your stats? I'm curious because my status was "re-review at end of January" and switched to "final review-allow 2-3 weeks for decision." :xf:

for those of you that originally had the "re-review in Jan" status, and the status now changed to invited or "final review", did AADSAS post your Academic Update before UOP re-review your app?

my school sent my fall 2010 grades to aadsas two weeks ago, how long is the AU going to take?

thanks.

UoP called the day before offering the interview to request an unofficial academic update. As far as I know, AADSAS is still sitting on my AU (sent, like 5 weeks ago?) I think they're aware that AADSAS is being really slow.

When were you called offering an interview and when is your interview?

how come mine hasn't changed to allow 2-3 weeks? 🙄

I was called late last week for an interview the last week on January.
My status never changed to "final review."
I hope that helps.

Hope that helps! Good luck!

My status shows "Final Review" too, which sounds pretty sweet, but I called today and they looked at my app and said, "Looking at your DAT scores, I can pretty much guarantee you that you won't get an interview. If they ever see anything at 17 or below, they suggest a re-take."

I didn't realize during my applications that they would look at every single score. I always heard, "I got a 19 on the DAT" or "He didn't even get in with a 22!", so I just assumed that they take one fatty score from everything and rank you at that. So what did I do? Studied as hard as I could in the things that I was already good at (PAT [21] and Quantitative [21]), studied Gen Chem (18) and Biology (16) a decent amount (didn't realize there'd be so much taxonomy!!!), and said "Screw it!" to O-Chem (15), since I never did well in that anyway in college. It'd been 3 years since I went to school, so I was re-learning all of these sciences anyway!

So with an 18 AA and 21 PAT, I thought I'd be ok...especially given all the ADEA books showed several schools accepting an average of 18 AA. Well, no interviews and a whole lot of rejections later, I think I've learned my lesson. :d See ya next year.

@wantveneers-I'm a non traditional applicant as well. Been out of school for 7 years and I have my masters. Sometimes life experiences outside of school can help to show that you are well rounded and have other interests. Your scores aren't bad. I'm sure you'll get in either this round or next. Looks like I'll be applying again as well.

CADentGal, when did you submit you application. I submitted on July 1st, and I still have the "Re-review in January", and I am going to assume that you are from California.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I need every one I can get! 🙂

Thanks Dental1001 🙂

Illinois2th I submitted my app beginning of Sept (late I know) and it was "mailed" 9/24 to all schools. And yes, good assumption. I'm from CA and a non-minority.

Got the "Final Review" status change yesterday and the "Allow 4 to 6 weeks for Review"

Hopefully I get an interview call within the next few weeks

Just got a rejection email. Probably the nicest one I've gotten so far from anyone. 🙂 Good luck to the rest of you.

@wantveneers

Sorry to hear! If you don't mind me asking, did they mention anything as to why they rejected you?

It seems to be system wide. I also received the Final review allow 4-6 weeks.

Based on previous posts, it seems that those that did receive interviews never got the change to Final Review but still had the status of "Re-review in Jan. or Feb." So it looks like rejections are coming soon.

Ditto. Hope it's not a system wide status change!

They didn't tell me directly on my email, but yesterday when I called they said that my DAT scores were too low. I got a 15 O-Chem and 16 Bio, and their average from accepted students are 22 and 21, respectively. The only thing that I did better than their average was quantitative, where I got a 21 (which no one cares about). 🙂

To quote the email, for those that are interested:
Our incoming class averages are: academic average 21, perceptual ability 22, quantitative reasoning 19, reading comprehension 22, biology 21, general chemistry 22, organic chemistry 22, and total science 21.

Has anyone in the past or currently cycle received an interview after the "Final Review" status? It would be interesting to find out. Maybe peerless can chime in?

It seems like the majority that receive this update get rejected. 🙁

Dang, those averages are getting higher and higher every year.

I called them this morning and they said there will be a final review and they will send out interviews for the wait list (the class is pretty much full I guess)
So sad 🙁

How are they sending out interviews for the waitlist? Are they going to contact us via e-mail, phone, or snail mail?

I didnt ask. But I think they will call (just like the how they usually send out interviews for the actual seats). You can always call and double check.
Check your phone every 5 mins, guys :scared:

I hope to give out hope by saying that during my interview at UoP, as well as at my other interviews, I exchanged contact with about 6 other UoP interviewers. They were all accepted, but only 3 of them chose to attend. The other 3 said no because of the far distance from their home mainly. My point being that not everyone that was accepted at UoP attends, so I expect the waitlist to move just like any other school. I suspect ill be future classmates with some of you in this thread! Good luck.

Got the "Final Review" status change yesterday and the "Allow 4 to 6 weeks for Review"

same here, my status just changed to that from "No Decision--Re-review at the end of Jan."

can u guys share ur stat so we can know how many people r waiting? mine is 20/20/25 GPA: 3.6

I think this is like the 4th time that I post something like this.

Plenty of students get in off the waitlist interviews. I had the 2nd to last interview Pacific offers with about 12 people that day and 8 of the students ended it up getting in. Pacific isn't on everyone's top list and I think about 20%-30% of the students will end up going somewhere else. So ya, there's always a chance. Even if you didn't get in that year, the chance of you getting in the following cycle is pretty darn strong!! I thought it was just an urban myth b/c it's too good to be true...but yes that is true

Final Review "Allow 4 to 6 weeks for Review" 😕
Cross my fingers :xf:

UoP is definitely my first choice; I hope I get in!

Hi Peerless,
Are you applying to 15 schools this cycle 2010-2011 too?
How is it going? Prefer other schools than UoP? 🙂

UoP interview. They said I will be interviewing for the waitlist. 🙁

To Penny,
Interviewing for a waitlist is better than nothing. 👍

I am currently a D1 who's going through the toughest quarter here at Pacific, quarter 3😡

We have a new curriculum this year. Bascially nothing new has been added. Instead of power through the anatomy, the biochem, and physio separately. The school has now moved everything around and they're doing their best to group ALL relative topics into the same integrated medical science block and exams. For example, if we're talkinga about the digestive system, we'll learn the anatomy of it, the physiology of it, and the biochem of it.

Hmm, I got the "final review update" a few days ago but now AADSAS has an update from UOP today. I wonder if they started mailing out rejections letters.

are you talking about the supplemental materials section on AADSAS? I got the same thing, it says "last updated: 1/28/2011". Who knows, might just be a system wide thing.

No way that is pretty sweet! I have heard that most schools are trying to adopt some sort of "system based learning" where you are in a system and cover the material. That makes UOP even more enticing. Thanks for the info

I think amali is right, rejections are probably on the way. Chances of getting an interview post-dec from UOP are extremely slim.

Anyhow, good luck to everyone!

@ peerless218

What are your comments over the 3 year program vs 4 year? like it, love it, indifferent, happy, anything negative ?

Ya, finally dental schools are catching on to something medical schools have been doing for a long time.
