What are your comments over the 3 year program vs 4 year? like it, love it, indifferent, happy, anything negative ?
killacam was it for a waitlist spot?
No way that is pretty sweet! I have heard that most schools are trying to adopt some sort of "system based learning" where you are in a system and cover the material. That makes UOP even more enticing. Thanks for the info
3 year over 4 year program. Honestly, I would imagine the 4 year program being on the lesser intense side of the fence. Of course, there are also schools that are just as intense when you're comparing a 4 yr school vs UOP. These are just speculations and from what I heard from my pre-dental peers in undergrad who are now at dental schools across the country. I personally wouldn't know how it would be like to attend a 4 yr program. I often dream how much "easier" life might have been for the 1st year students at UOP though. A friend of mine recently just had to rub off how much "fun" he's having at Midwestern while apparently UOP students have no social life. That's FALSE btw. Overhere at Pacific, you have PLENTY of time to attend social events. There are always something going on during the weekends or even on weekdays.
How do I feel about Pacific, I love it here. It's challenging but I am enjoying my time being a dental student. I have mentioned many time on SDN. The only negative aspect of the school is its tuition. I would like to only pay $70,000 for 4 year tuition at UW like a friend of mine who's attending UW next year. Besidies the tuition, there's nothing here at UOP that'll lead me to raise my brow.
What you have here at Pacific is the SUPPORT system. You guys might have heard horror stories of students failed out of dental school after 1st year. Here at Pacific, the school will not hold you back because of academic on the didactics. If you're struggling, there will be plenty of opportunities to make up your grades through either remedial courses or retake exams at the end of the quarter. I've been there my 1st quarter for biochem. It really touched me to have so many of my classmates, faculty, and the school to care about students once they know someone is struggling with any subjects. I might be stressed at times but most of the time, I am happy and having an upbeat tempo through out the day.
Not that I know of. I believe the only scholarships they hand out are the "Dean's Scholarship" which ranges from 30-60k (total, not per year). These funds are distributed throughout your first year in equal payments. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. To those who have been accepted. I have an interview coming up next week, and I was wondering if UoP offers performance based scholarships (yearly).
Just got a call today saying that I got an acceptance into the alternate spot. The interview group that I was in was the last group they were interviewing for the alternate spots, so I guess that means no more interviews at UoP. For those of us in the waiting list, they're expecting to see some students move out of the pool in April when they have their deposit due. Just a matter of waiting game from now. Let's keep our hopes up and stay optimistic.Does anyone have any news with UoP ? 🙂 Let us know. Thanks !
I think this is like the 4th time that I post something like this.
Plenty of students get in off the waitlist interviews. I had the 2nd to last interview Pacific offers with about 12 people that day and 8 of the students ended it up getting in. Pacific isn't on everyone's top list and I think about 20%-30% of the students will end up going somewhere else. So ya, there's always a chance. Even if you didn't get in that year, the chance of you getting in the following cycle is pretty darn strong!! I thought it was just an urban myth b/c it's too good to be true...but yes that is true
