Damn, my mail doesn't get here fro another couple hours, but I guess its not looking good. Holy crappola. It sure takes a while .... and i'm only 2 states away. 🙁

Im in Illinois and I already got it 😛 But don't worry, I have had days where the mail came around 6 or 7 PM :laugh:

I totally saw Ashton behind a bush earlier, with a headset.

I'm not sure I appreciate his over-the-top sense of humor.
 
I got my downstate complete letter on october 11. The letter was dated September 13, and postmarked September 15th!

Hey, to clarify ... you already got the letter or just that your mail already came? Cause if you got the letter please tell us what it says!!! lol Oh yeh, I obviously didn't get anything remarkable in my mail today.

No no, just snail mail came, not the Pitt letter. Pitt is messing with our head. 😱
 
I swear this is worse than waiting for a pregnancy test with your ex-girlfriend. But at least that only take a couple minutes. Ugh.

Got the correspondence status today, 8 weeks after completion. You'd think that with two pages of responses here you'd have a definitive answer as to what it means, but only one person said it was a rejection. Does that end the debate? Did any others get rejected via this method?
 
It's a rejection, I got a letter via snail mail 3 weeks after my status was changed to "correspondence sent".....I have several classmates who had the same thing happen

For these people reporting rejections; did you guys interview, or not? Sorry for the misfortune!
 
just so you guys know, i don't think it's an autoinvite. my interviewer was the dean of admissions, and she asked me if i'd received my invite quickly, and i said yes. she replied that she reads them as soon as they come in and sends on decisions on the spot.
 
I dunno about that... mine was issued very early on a saterday morning.. seems odd they would be reading them at that time.

Hmmm, well, I got my interview invite before I had submitted my UPitt secondary, so I'm pretty sure that would be called an autoinvite.

I think she is BS-ing...no school would want to admit to giving autoinvites. I know of people who got their invites at 3am, right after they submitted. There is NO WAY they could have read it (I'm sure they use secondary info when making post-interview decisions, but I'm highly skeptical of pre-interview).

Pitt completely changed their admissions procedures as of last year. They used to be non-rolling, and didn't do any sort of auto-invites that I know of, so this is prob very new.

what about those who haven't heard a thing since completion? is it just a prolonged rejection? 😕
 
Keep in mind we need to distinguish between auto-secondary invites and auto-interview invites. I can't quite remember the time-frame of my secondary invite, but I wasn't shocked (i.e. it wasn't the next day or anything). My interview invite was a different story. I submitted my secondary on a Thursday night and got my interview invite on Saturday morning. Someone from another thread asked about this while at the school and they were told that Pitt is just right on top of the applications, so they can review them very quickly. Again, this could be false, but I really don't see medical schools telling bold-faced lies to their prospective students. That's a lawsuit waiting to happen.

i mean, it's very possible that she lied to me, but i didn't ask her about it. i don't remember why it came up, but she brought it up. i received my invite on a sunday morning after submitting on saturday night. it seems fishy, but she also interviewed my friend and sent him an acceptance email on a sunday morning. she seemed really on top of things. however, i guess i'll never know for sure!
 
Just heard back from my student interviewer with an acceptance (yes, I've already added to the list). I had a question for other acceptees though. Does UPitt send out any follow up materials (I say this b'c I have things mailed home and am wondering if my parents dropped the ball)? The email didn't seem like she was breaking the acceptance to me, but it was the first I had heard of anything. Is there another e-mail or info packet that requires a response to accept the acceptance? Does UPitt require a deposit? Thanks so much all.

There is a packet that is mailed, but I got mine about a week after I heard from my interviewer, so it probably hasn't reached your home yet. You need to fill out a form they send and return it to them to hold a place in the class. I didn't get anything else via email. There is no deposit.
 
Did anyone who was sent the rejection snail mail check their online status? Did it say anything other than simply reporting when you submitted your AMCAS, paid the fee and which LORs theyve received?

If accepted the status page stays the same, so I'm thinking they don't touch the thing.🙁

On a side note, was anyone else worried that with UPitt they might accidentally hit the withdwrawal tab? I had nightmares of that thing...

YES! I'm a pretty curious person when it comes to application tabs (I guess that's how/why I accidentally applied MD/PhD to Harvard 🙄 ) and part of me wanted to know what the "withdrawal" tab showed, but I feared that I might screw up and shoot myself in the foot.
 
HumbleMD, congrats on Pitt! I was just curious when you interviewed, because I was there Nov. 3rd, and starting to get a lil anxious about them.

Eeek, getting harder and harder to remember to remember when these interviews were. It was either Monday or Tuesday, right around halloween. My MDApps link is my "homepage" at left. And I have to give props to a fellow wolverine.

I hit the withdrawal tab....it just asks to confirm if you really want to withdraw. Its idiot proof.

I havent been invited to interview at Pitt, but my parents tell me theres a letter from them....don't suppose they send interview invites by snail mail? 😳 Didn't think so. And I really like them too...well, their pamphlets anyway. They sent me two after MCAT scores came out, and I got all excited...sigh. Anyway, good luck to everyone who got in. I'm sure its a great place.
 
Ok its official. Got a call from my dad, and he read off all 5 rejections I got today. Pitt was one of them. But why? Why Pitt? And after all those pamphlets...those beautiful glossy pamphlets...with their high production values promising that whatever happened, it would be classy. And this is how you dump me? By sending me a letter saying 'you hate to be the one to bear bad news.' Whatever Pitt, I'm better than you and you don't deserve me. You can suck it Pitt....you can suck it.
