Before I begin, I want to thank everyone in advance for any advice you may be willing to provide! am so incredibly thankful to have been accepted to both schools. Two years ago, I was told that I didn't stand a chance! I feel truly blessed to have this opportunity. With this being said, I am having a hard time deciding between two schools.
UAB
Pros:
Incredible clinical experience
Absolutely loved the school when I visited🙂
A challenging, but "homey" environment that fosters professional and personal growth
Close to family, partner, friends and dog!
Specialty programs
Research
In-state tuition
Live at home
Cons:
Older facilities that are not open 24/7
"Cut-throat" environment (just what someone told me)
Distractions - family and friends
Possibility of online classes
Live at home
LSU
Pros:
Incredible clinical experience
Facilities are super impressive
The admissions committee, faculty, and current students = extremely accessible and hospitable
It felt warm and cozy when I visited!
Opportunity to live somewhere new
New Orleans
Cons:
The "unknown"
Further away from family, partner, friends and dogs 🙁
Not as many connections for specialty programs or future employers
Out of state tuition
New Orleans
Overall, I had wonderful experiences visiting both schools. For me, the decision is between the "known" and the "unknown." Tuition is not a factor I need to consider at this point. There are a couple of "pros" and "cons" that I list under both categories! As you can imagine, they have both good and bad aspects! Thank you all in advance for your help!
