there are now 80 people on the group. However, not everyone in the group is in the class of 2011. Some are in the class of 2010 and are there to answer our questions and such. Also people leave the group when they get into somewhere else...so dont worry much about the facebook group. At least it doesnt have 130 or so memebers, then i would be getting worried. Also, its a good thing that more people have been joining the group this week, that might indicate that there is alot of movement happening (which of course is always a good thing)

there are also some people who are accepted and already apartment hunting who have not signed onto facebook, so 80 is probably a decent estimate. 50+ spots is still a big chunk of the class though, so hopefully the next few weeks will be active in waitlist movement

I'm really sad. I called today and they said they have been in a dry spell since June 18th and there has been very little movement. sigh, this doesn't look good 🙁 I'm loosening hope fast, somehow i feel like i will be left somewhere between dusk and summer (intended dashboard confessional pun, since thats about all I'm listening to right now). Why oh why didn't I just play guitar for my friends band thats now on drive thru records? (kicks self)

It's going to be very disappointing if no one from our list gets off...I am really starting to worry. I have heard of people getting calls recently, but only a friend of a friend, etc. This is very discouraging.

Looks like I am should start applying again. Can't wait to do this all over again!

I just called and talked to Jeff, he said its moving slowly. 2 people declined offers today so two people were called.

Man, I would love to see our list move some.

Can I get your guys' opinion on something? How much of a difference you think there will be between June 13th MCAT date and August 6 date?

That's almost a 2 month difference. I'd say it's much better to have a June 13th MCAT score.

Well I would say, if you can be ready to take it in July, then by all means take it then. But it's better to have a good score and apply a little behind everyone, than to have a lower score and apply sooner. Especially if you want to apply to UB as your first choice since they have said that they have rolling-style admissions.

Trust me, it's all about the stupid MCAT (in my experience), so don't sacrifice that to apply sooner if you are unprepared for it. Although, it is to your advantage to take it sooner, all else being equal.

Since I'm from OOS I don't really want to fly out to Buffalo just to look at apartments, so can anyone tell me what neighborhoods to search for that are cheap and very close by the med school? I'm probably going to be searching online (craigslist, etc), so searching for neighborhoods/areas on there will probably be my best bet.

University Heights is the neighborhood that is "Walking Distance from Main Street Campus" aka WDMSC. I've been told you can live west or south but not east of there. There are great apartments just off Hertel ave which is a short drive/bike ride or long walk to school. The problem with Buffalo is that things can change on a block by block basis. On the other hand, "safe" is quite relative depending on what you're used to.

Also, I know I said this in another forum, but www.artvoice.com is a resource in addition to craigslist.
