i don't know anything. i still have not talked directly to anyone who can give me specific info--everything i have gotten is from this forum.

my guess--for what it is worth--is that this week and next --the movement will be from the upper part of the top 1/3....

at the end of may/early june --people will start to contemplate their new acceptances off the waitlists at other schools...and another wave of movement will take the list down to the top of the middle third.

anyone else have an idea?

remember--this is just a sense i have gathered from the previous lists... and calculating in the fact that applications have risen a little...(if the waitlist is the same size as previous years --this point is debatable--then i don't see why previous trends would not apply for this year)

i am an optimist--i think we all have a good shot at getting in like the previous years...however-i still am preparing alternate plans for the fall to be cautious and prudent

it's a bit difficult to compare ourselves to last years waitlist timewise, since they finished interviewing a few weeks before we did...we also don't really know exactly who's in the top part of the upper 1/3 of our waitlist, people are listed according to who interviewed earlier or who posted first. we should know more in just a few days...

Its difficult to determine where within the top 1/3 they are up to. Since last year applicants were told where within the top1/3 they were, it helped in determining how fast the movement was. Since we do not know where within the top 1/3 or middle 1/3 or bottom 1/3, it makes it harder to determine how fast the movement is.

Also, do you think that that increase in applicant would decrease our chance of acceptance from the waitlist? Technically, wouldn't there be the same amount of people on waitlist as there were last year because the class size is still the same, even though there are more applicants. If anything, more applicants are not put on the waitlist and rejected this year than last and we should be proud of ourselves for making the cut.

However, the new Dean would like to see scores raised so UB is taking part in a pilot USMLE customized exam program. Basically, it's a 4 hour computerized test we're taking at the end of this week (*groan*) to assess what we've learned from the Year One curriculum via Step-1 type questions.

While I understand the faculty's movites, it's honestly the last thing I want to do on a Friday with one week of school left and two tests to go. 😡

Mr. Rosso said that he's not allowed to say how many people are on the waitlist or how many are in each third or to tell you where you are within a thrid (though he mentioned where in the third you were back in December, when I got waitlisted).

Just wondering something, wondering if any of you can clarify. It is my understanding that we can still hold multiple acceptances after May 15th but cannot get our deposit back after this date. Is this right?
