marathonsRcool,

congrats on acceptance to grad school!?! i was wondering if your application complete on march 7 or 9 for both schools? because i know that UCLA and UCSD require additional stuff (photo and tax copies). did they contact you after all your materials were received?

thanks!

ive also interviewed at ucla and ucsd. i have one scheduled at ucsf as well. pm me with any questions. in regards to the question above, i was also complete early march, with all supplemental material turned in. i heard back a few days later from ucla, a little later from ucsd and recently from ucsf

can u clairfy what you mean when u say "recently" from ucsf? last week? this week? 🙂

Can some one clue me in on the interview process please? What went on in the interview, how long, what did they ask? grillin or chill process?

Hi everyone,

My application was complete on Monday, April 21. I know, it's sooo late. My online application was sent on April 2 but my LOR's came in really late. I got an email on 4/22 for a UCSD interview and then a phone call on 4/23 for a UCSF interview, but sadly nothing today. haha

Some background about myself
UCD: BS BioSci, BS Anthro, c/o 2007
Age: 22
First-time applicant
Never taken the MCAT
Overall GPA: 3.3
Science GPA: 3.0

UC Post-Baccs I applied to
UCSF: Interview on May 12
UCSD: Interview on April 28 (via telephone)
UCD: Haven't heard anything but not too excited about going back to the alma mater
UCI: Haven't heard anything

Non-UC I applied to
San Jose State: Applied as post-bacc and will hear from admissions in 6-8 weeks; this is my back-up plan

I would really appreciate some advice about interviews or the programs themselves, especially if you're a post-bacc alum. I will definitely post some tips about interviews and stuff as soon as I'm through. Although maybe I'll be secretive about UCSF since I reeeally want to go there. haha jk

got into ucla rap. so they are already letting people know.

UCSD (Saundra Kirk) sent an email and UCSF (Katherine Lao) called then sent an email confirmation.

how long after your UCLA interview did they take to accept you?

thx

To those that have already interviewed and/or been accepted, had you already unsuccessfully applied to medical school or not? When were your applications for the post bac program submitted?

Hey Everyone!
Congrats on already receiving word from the program. Is everyone who has already received a response a Cali resident?

I am a Cali resident and have not applied to medical school yet.

im a cali resident. i am a re-applicant. i heard back from ucla about a month after my interview. pretty early. as for the interview invites.. they were phone(ucla and ucsf) email(ucsd).

I got a phone call for an interview at ucsf this afternoon. I'm a first time applicant. My application was done on April 1st and I interview May 22. No word from ucsd, uci, or davis yet.

Hey Label, If you don't mind... What kind of questions did they ask you at the UCSF interview? and do you possibly know how many students were chosen for an interview?

has anyone been accepted yet? (besides ucla)

I am a CA resident, never applied to med school.

I just interviewed via phone for UCSD yesterday and I think it went pretty well. Saundra was soo nice and it didn't seem like an interview at all. She basically just asked me to talk about myself and my background. I was expecting more med-school related questions but she didn't ask me any of those since I guess I talked about all that in my application. I would recommend just showing your enthusiasm for studying medicine and how you could benefit from and also contribute to the postbacc program.

Here are some stats that Saundra told me about their ten students from last year: one couldn't make it to med school so they're going to optometry, two students got about 4 acceptances each to DO schools, a couple got acceptances to UCD and one got into UCSF and another got into UCSD. And those numbers don't add up to ten but I'm sure everyone was really successful.

UCSD had about 267 applicants; they're interviewing about 40-50 and accepting 10 students. They've already accepted 3 due to rolling admissions or something so they only have 7 spots left and she said I should find out in a couple of weeks.

Hope that helps you guys. =] PM me if you have any questions at all.

Does anyone happen to know the chances for someone who is not a California resident?

I have my interview tomorrow. Just excited for it. Is it true there are only 10 spots available? if so watch out! =)

🙂

I'm new to this website. Just wondering if anyone knows what types of questions UCLA Re-app and UCLA/Drew ask for their post-bacc interviews, I have those coming up soon. Thank you!

how many days after the consortium receives ur letters until they change the application status to complete?

i finished my app on april 15th just in time for UCI's deadline. my transcripts and letters just to there today. but app status still says pending 🙁

I completed the online portion on April 2 in time for UCSF but my letters of rec were received by the Davis central office on April 21. Lucky UCSF let me slide because that was the absolute last day they were accepting supporting materials. My application status changed from pending to complete the day after my letters of rec were in. I had to keep hounding my letter writers because they turned them in really late. I was also lucky that all my writers were in Davis so two of them actually dropped off the letters in person at the office and that expedited the processing, combined with my two phone calls per day haha. So I would recommend calling Khalid at the central office in Davis at 530-754-9391. Also, make sure all your letters are in; those were what lagged my application. It made it seem like I was all lazy too cuz the office was like "you should have asked months in advance" and I asked in February! Ah well, everything's in and life is good. 😀

Has Anyone who is not a California Resident heard back from any of the schools?!

🙁

I don't know if this is 100% true. But I heard about post bac when I received a latter from UCSF. I remember the letter saying that they were only accepting California residents.

Wow nice!

I interviewed at UCSD as well but haven't received any responses. How long ago did you interview? I'm a bit worried and not sure if i should call Saundra to ask about my status......

Heard from UCD today also, and will be interviewing saturday

for ppl who got an interview to UCD: did u get interviews to UCSD, UCLA, UCSF also?

Hi everyone!

I'm new to SDN and thought I should introduce myself. I am a recent grad from UCLA and am in the process of waiting for interviews for the UC postbac programs. I had my first interview today at UCI, went pretty well, pretty basic questions, nothing too out of the ordinary. I have one other scheduled interview next Friday with UCSF. Haven't heard back from UCD and UCLA Drew quite yet and I'm waiting to hear if UCSD got my supplimental info.

congrats to all those that already got into a program!!!

if anyone has any questions about the interviews, dont hesitate to ask..good luck everyone!

I am currently in the program,
It is a re-app program only.
my year (2007-8): out of 10 of us, one left to go to Technion in Israel (ran through John's Hopkins i think), one got into DO school, and 8 of us are applying in June (one may go down the PA route).

Year (2006-7): All but one have gotten into medical school (one being in a DO school, the rest MDs), multiple here in UCLA, one in PRIME UCLA.

I had an interview at UCSF as well, if you have any questions, PM me.

Congratulations to those who got accepted! Anyhow, walkinginfaith how long ago did they call you to inform you of your interview? I haven't heard anything back from them yet and I'm quite concerned. Also, zippyh20 Can you possibly tell me what questions they asked you at the interview for UCSF and also anything to expect? I got accepted to schedule an interview and it is on May 20th!

I turned in my apps on April 2nd...and heard from UCI and UCSF about two weeks after from both to schedule my interviews. I know that during my UCI interview they said that they just started the interviewing process and that they wont be notifying applicants of acceptance for atleast another 3 weeks. Hope this helps.

Just wondering, do they send you a rejection letter of some sort so you know to stop waiting LoL. I have an interview at UCSF but not heard from the rest. 🙁

I applied to UCSF and UCLA last year and I got rejected. UCSF didn't send me a rejection letter until June. I never heard from UCLA

anybody have any new updates?😀

I have drew and ucsf interviews coming up, but have not heard from ucla....anyone know anything about the ucla/drew post bac program?

Last year I applied to all the programs and only got interviewed at UCLA and UCSF, got accepted to both too, only got official rejections from UCSD. Found out from UCSF a week and half after the interview and UCLA took two months. Everyone's application is different, I listened to this site last year and almost accepted UCSF b/c I thought UCLA's acceptances were over and even one person in my program got in a week and a half into the program at the end of June. Don't lose hope and call them if you're ansy (UCLA's person is really nice on the phone, just know if you're mean to him, everyone in the office will know), just don't call everyday, maybe aim for once or twice before decisions are made.

hey guys, does anyone know if people ever apply to med school while they are in the CA-post bacs? or do you have to wait until after,,,,do u have a choice?

It depends on what your personal advisor thinks is best for you. If your GPA is already high enough but you need to improve your MCAT then you may be advised to apply during the post-bacc year. However, I think the majority of students apply after the end of the post-bacc year.

app file been marked complete for a week now. just called UCI and left a msg. nothing yet.

any news from others?

I called UCLA today to ask if they received everything. The guy on the phone went to retrieve my file but he said that it was in the director's office and that the director was conducting in interview. Since I had to go to work I said that I'd call back later.
I don't want to get this as a wrong impression but if my file is in the director's office, does this mean good news?
