I've been staring at the UCI secondary prompt and I just don't know what they're asking. Can someone give me a brief example of what they wrote? A single experience? A generalized ditty on personal characteristics? I'm so lost...

UCI's prompt:
In evaluating applicants with a variety of backgrounds and strengths the Admissions Committee assesses each applicant for what they can contribute to their class and also the potential of an applicant to contribute to society. Please describe to the Admissions Committee what you have to offer in this regard.

Thanks.

how much space have they allocated for your response.

How are you going to make your class better and how are you going to make society better? Remember it always helps to be able to back up your answers with proof from your past/present that shows you can and will do what you claim.

They gave me 1800 characters with spaces. Does anyone else find writing about how you'll impact society daunting?

Kind of... Anyway, don't overestimate your abilities to '' change and impact '' the world. I'm pretty sure it made me look cocky and arrogant, especially when they reviewed my letter during the interview. I still got accepted, but be humble, that's an advice 😳

I like to do artsy stuff (graphic design, crafts, things like that), so i wrote as my contribution that I would contribute a creative perspective to the class (yeah....sounds very corny). My friend actually wrote a total of five lines for that prompt about leadership and motivation.

Creative perspective ? LOL 😀

contribution to class=write what is unique about you....talents, languages spoken, travel experience, leadership, hobbies, unique ec or internatinal mission...but serious things. things that emphasize leadership and teamwork would be good. teaching experience. something that can help your clasmates and make the class diverse. show that you are well-rounded.

We're a small, tight knit class and the Adcom is trying to asses what talents and experiecnes you'll contribute to enrich your classmates and your profession. What makes you so special, what do you have to offer other than a knack for the sciences and a relatively meaningless m/c exam given twice a year? That's what they want to know.

Hey Tumor,

What does the TTM in your signature mean?
