I am a poly sci/CLS major, hoping to gain entrance to UC Irvine or UC San Diego this coming season and was wondering if it is possible to take med courses at the same time as major courses and how does it all work...

You mean pre-med courses? Sure, you just sign up for them like any other course. Most people start with general chemistry, biology 101, and go from there.

please do not respond to my questions as if I seem totally clueless on what I need to do. I obviously know what courses I need, I am asking if it is usually doable at a UC while taking upper division non-traditional courses. Some schools restrict their bio/chem/phys classes to students in the major or with other priorities.

Maybe you should be a little more clear with your questions? For one thing, you called them med classes....

Yes it is possible to balance pre-health classes and upper division non-traditional courses. You might be restricted on the pre-health courses if you don't have the pre-reqs for the class. Talk to the pre-health advisor at your school.

Yeah it's definitely doable. You can take some premed courses as electives at UCSD depending on which college you end up in. There are no restrictions for the premed courses for specific majors, you just have to have prereqs and a good sign up time.
