Zer0el, how do you know already when your UCLA interview is if you just found out on the status page that you have got approved for an interview two days ago? (according to another thread) Just curious. I thought the scheduling took weeks to do via US Mail.

How did you guys find out about UCLA? what does the status page say? My page says that my forms are due on Sept 30 still but they are all in.

does it come snail mail or email? I really hope I get an interview there. Ugh!

When UCLA grants you an interview, the line on the status check changes from blank to "requested" and the date it was requested shows up. You get snail mail stuff about it several days later. No emails. The part at the top that says online forms due 9/30 never changes.

hey all,

for those of you waiting to hear on cali schools----just thought i'd share how random the process really can be....

i have interviews scheduled at UCLA, UCSF, and USC...and the only other cali school i applied to is:

UCSD---and they haven't even granted me a seconday! random huh? i'm not a cali resident. but anyway, interesting to think that someone's 'scores' alone can make it through certain screens and not others. not even for a frickin' secondary! my gpa is 3.7ish and my mcat is lower 30's.

i found out i got an interview request on 11/4. at that time, i already knew i was flying back to interview at UCI on 11/14. so i took a shot in the dark and called up UCLA and asked if they had any openings on 11/15, and they said yes and fit me into their schedule. otherwise i would've had to fly back to Cali again for UCLA at a later date (i go to school in Boston). it's true, i still have not received anything in the mail.

UC system cannot be interpreted by scores and grades... trust me, it's common to get interviews at UCSF and get rejected by UCD or UCI.

I am speaking from personal experience; i am not called a ronin for no reason (sadly).

my ucla status page changed without e-mail or snail mail contact about an interview. i've had contact withthe mstp office - thats the only way i found out about the med interview. don't know if thats normal - i'd be checking with the uc's - they aren't all about explicit communication. great places though.

Well, I just got my pre-secondary rejection EMAIL (i wasn't even worth the stamp!) from UCD 🙁 I feel like they are lining up to shoot me down one by one!

oh god, i'm sorry pwrpfgrl. ucd is definitely one of my top choices. hopefully i won't get one of those pre-secondary rejection e-mails, but at this point it seems likely 🙁

I got my POST-secondary rejection from them today (email also). Ahh... such is life.

Cheer up, pwrpfgrl, UC schools are disproportionately difficult to get in. I was shot down by all of them (5 loud BANGs) last year. But hey, i am not dead, cuz i am applying to more out-of-state schools this year!

so i finally get to add to this....
secondaries from uci, ucsd, uc davis, and ucsf (didn't apply to ucla)
so far on hold at uci, interview scheduled at ucsd (secondary complete on 10/7), and no word from uc davis or sf
oh yeah, and i am a female CA resident, non URM. good luck everbody

I just realize I haven't posted on SDN for a long time. Technically, I don't belong in the pre-allo forum anymore but I just want to bump this thread and give you UC's hopefuls some cheer.

Time to get back to studying for the finals. Med school finals blow!

Sorry to hear about UC Davis, Bounty. This process is random at best. I'm sure you'll do fine with the other UC's.
