i just checked my online uci status...for the last few days, i was 'on hold' under the alternate column. Now my status under the alternate column has changed to 'yes'. i'm assuming that means that i've been officially waitlisted...? is anyone else in this situation? does uci have a lot of waitlist movement? thanks guys!

Damn, me too. I wonder if that's good news or bad news...

I was on the alternate list for 2 weeks and never got the "yes." I don't fully understand what it all means. Mine just had a dash under the alternate column and when I called, Gayle said it meant I had been waitlisted, but it never said yes, just hold. So I think you may have been waitlisted.

Either way, don't be discouraged, UCI is known to have a HUGE amount of wailist movement as it's not exactly many people's dream school. I can think of a couple of schools I've interviewed at that I would pick over UCI, and there are lots of other accepted people like me. This is going to guarantee waitlist movement. From the students I spoke to, very few were accepted right after the interview as UCI tends to put most people on the waitlist until March. Sit tight, I'm sure you're ok with such an early interview!

i called gayle and here's the scoop: if you have a 'yes' under the alternate column, you've been waitlisted. Gayle said that there's a little bit of movement from the waitlist between february and june, but most occurs after june. She said it's unpredictable from year to year. Sometimes the entire class is made up of people from the waiting list, other years, very little people are taken off the list.

i hope you guys aren't as discouraged and frustrated as i am. i'm now waitlisted at 3 schools with no acceptances yet (but on the brighter side, no post-interview rejections either)

Thanks for the reassurance Chap!

Has anybody been rejected yet from UCI post-interview?
