For those of you interviewing at UCI on Oct. 2nd, I figured we'd start this thread for moral support. Personally, this is my first interview and I'm scared =) But psyched at the same time...

Since Irvine is so hot, are you guys going without your suit jacket? Or what's the deal?

i turned all my stuff towards the end of aug. and everything was received beginning of sept.

they emailed me with the interview invite last saturday....

i received the interview request sunday morning for a 10/2 interview but unfortunately won't be able to make it since i'll be at georgetown on 10/1. hopefully i'll be able to reschedule.

i think you should still wear your suit jacket but i agree, it's probably going to be pretty uncomfortable.

congrats on your interview and don't be nervous, i'm sure it'll be fine!

I just got mine too, and I have to reschedule as well, I hope they are flexible with dates. Yeah, I'm sure it will be hot in OC but doesn't everyone continue to wear their suit jackets anyhow? I was just at Miami and everyone kept their jackets on even though it was extremely uncomfortable, for me anyway.

tried pming you but your box is full. i sent them an email this morning and they replied back w/in 2 hours w/ all their interview dates and told me to get back to them by 9/26. hope this helps!

I'm at Irvine right now (undergrad) and it's not that hot. I actually wore a sweater this weekend! You'll be indoors with the a/c on full blast anyway. Good luck on the interviews!

I know a few people asked this question already, but I was put on "hold" for an interview at irvine and was wondering if anyone called irvine about it. You'd say it meant I wasn't good enough for an interview, but irvine being one of my top choices, I would like to keep my hopes up. Let me know if you have any info on this. I'll call the school in a couple of days otherwise. Thanks. 🙁

Hey Kwanny,

Did your UCI status page actually say "hold" or "pending review" or are both the same things? Mine says the latter, and I'm guessing that I am on hold too.

from what i heard, "pending review" means that your application has not yet been reviewed by the committee.

"on hold" rather means that the application has been reviewed, and they are considering offering the applicant an interview but are waiting to look at other people's app's first... i think

it says "on hold." man, this was a big bomb on my ego... if i'm not good enough for a interview at irvine, i wonder if I stand even a chance at la, sd, or sf... damn it. guess i'll call them and find out...

"Pending Review" is different from "On Hold" i think...because my status was pending review even though I was sent an interview invitation via email in september. The "pending review" status didn't change for me until I scheduled the interview. I'm sure you'll all enjoy the UCI interview too. I miss Newport so much! UCI and UCSD are so fast in getting back to the applicants.

Have anyone heard back from UCLA and UCD? I haven't heard anything back from them....as for UCSF I know my boyfriend is already scheduling an interview with them. A little envious, but I'm sure it's comming (a big FAT rejection from SF)

Heard from UCSD today. They said my application is on hold and that they may offer me an interview at a later date. I wonder if there's anything I can do.

the on hold at uci thing does not mean you won't get an interview at a future date. mine said that after i turned in my secondary and i was interviewed in march.

why can't uci show love to their alumni? hehe, ah well. i also wanted to know when your guys' files were complete w/uci? also, what was the average wait period b/t that and hearing from them in regard to an interview invite? thanks for the help people and best of luck! to all of you interviewing at uci, you guys will love it! it's a great school with so many awesome things to offer. the beach is right next door along with a variety of other hot spots. have fun at your interviews! if you guys need any tips on where to say, drop me a message or reply to this post, i'll be glad to help out, i know that area like the back of my hand. peace.

I am also interviewing on the 30th of Oct at UCI and was notified last week that I am on hold with UCSD...let me know what you are doing to prepare ? I would appreciate any advice on interviewing with UCI🙂 🙂

i don't know about the on hold thing. i am on hold at uci and ucsd, but i have an interview at ucsf on tuesday (oct. 14th) so i it doesn't seem like there's any general logic to how it works. it's so random, i guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Sweet. Congrats on your UCSF interview. YOu're almost there. I was also put on hold at uci, but if I could get an interview ucsf, i wouldn't mind being put on hold at any school. Good luck. 🙂

No kidding..an interview with UCSF is fantastic . I think that they are one of the few schools who really try to look at you as a person to evaulate your abilities rather than the numbers..I would feel really honored if I were you. I wonder if the schools inform each other who is interviewing whom....I am sure that most CA residents apply to every UC possible... and it would only make since to spread the interview spots around to ensure that everyone gets a least one chance. How does one prepare for the interview...?

I think mine was complete on late Aug.

I was complete Sept. 17 and got an interview invite on the 9/23.
