Hi guys 🙂 SDN Newby here!

A question for people who received secondaries from UC Irvine, UC San Diego, or UC Davis... when was your AMCAS verified? I got letters of receipt..but no secondaries yet 🙁 Does anyone know what the *cutoff* score for each MCAT section is for California state schools? I'm beginning to fear the screening process b'cuz my verbal was sorta on the weak side. Somebody give me some hope!!! Thanks!! 😍

AMCAS processed 6/15
letter of receipt - 2ndaries:
UCI 7/8 - 7/8
UCD n/a - 7/26
UCSD 7/7 - 7/29

My friend got into Davis with an 8 on verbal. I think UCI is pretty strict on numbers, others may be lenient if the rest of your app is good.

an 8 on verbal is cutoff. but if you get below an 8 on verbal they will review your whole app, including looking to see if you have clinical experience and how you did on the mcat writing sample/essay.

A 6 or below on any section disqualifies you w/ UC Irvine.

the cutoffs arent harsh, so it shouldnt even really be a problem you should worry about.

maybe the cutofffs arent too harsh. i got a secondary from both ucdavis and ucI. still havent gotten one from ucsd. heard that ucla will pass them out soon....

just because you get one from one UC does not mean you will get one from the others even if the one you got is "better" than the other schools.

I got a 6 on verbal and I have only got a secondary from UCI. no other UC's. I really wanted LA. My overall is a 30S

fyi - if you guys know anyone enrolled at UCI (and I think there's a good chance this works at other UCs too), they can go into the admissions office and attach a letter of rec to your app. - before they've reviewed it (or at least before they've sent the secondary). might not help, but it couldn't hurt.
