I'm stoked too! I'm just also sick and really tired. Have a full 8hr at the clinic tomorrow and then have to drive to Napa in my truck that needs a new starter to have dinner with (fortunately cool) relatives from Maryland.

Does anyone who read last year's thread know if any of those not in the first round of acceptances, but who interviewed at the same time as those who were accepted in the first batch, got in last year?

Yes, last year there was the first batch in Jan., then a second round of acceptances about a week later (I can't remember if there were rejections in the second, but definitely acceptances).

Also, when I called a couple of days ago to ask about financial aid, they mentioned that they will be sending out first decisions through the end of the month. Good luck everyone!

Wow! It's about time. 🙂

If you didn't get a status change, keep in mind that lots of things can prevent a committee from meeting (emergencies, holidays, etc.). It is not a bad thing that your status hasn't changed (well, besides the fact that you have to continue waiting). UCLA waited a long time to send out decisions, so this could very well be a mixed batch. Also, as Elastase said, last year UCLA sent out a second round of decisions within a couple days of the first.

you voiced my feelings all too well there. I shouldnt be complianing or be overly devastated since I am fortunate enough to have antoher UC to fall back on.... however I cant help but want this REAALLYYYYY bad. I think i've decided to keep my hopes strong for at least the next 2 batches, and if my decision still hasnt arrived, accept it and move on.

btw, I interviewed on Dec. 1st. forgot to mention that on my last post.

Since according to last year it takes days for it to arrive (UCLA letter), I thought I might as well start some discussion.

For those of you that got a status change today...how did your interview go?

I thought mine went well...both of my interviewers were cool and I had a great time...I also had a student interviewer, but I don't think that matters b/c last year on sdn about a half had or didn't have the extra interview.

No telling how things might go THIS year since the outgoing letters are a month late. By this time last year, waitlists were being sent. I wonder if there will be both in this batch as UCLA plays catch-up? Best of luck to all of you!

Mine hasn't changed either (Interviewed 10/27). Yea, I think our timeline is totally different since it is a completely separate committee and all.

Daaaaaamn.....so it is indeed a set of mixed decisions that went out! (Or dare I say it's possible that this may even be a set of only rejections that went out. oh god that'd be cruel!) 😱

Why dont they take some large envelopes and stick in 20 copies of the rejection letter. Then for acceptances, they can take a small envelope and only give you a letter that tells you to check online, and after like 10 min of link clicking and id verifying, you get your acceptance in a little status box. Then they could send all all the rejections first and wait till may to give out the acceptances....

Since UCLA is a state school, does anyone else think this wait counts as cruel and unusual punishment...?

Really sorry to hear that...that totally sucks that they are rejecting kids already. They must be sending out based on different commitees? Sounds like we will be getting their decision soon in th email...btw..where do you live uclahope?

UPDATE: Malory in the MSTP office says that committee doesn't meet til early march/end of april for ALL MSTP applicants.
What a disadvantage if we get rejected but still want to go to the medical school.

Do you mean they meet in early March and then again at the end of April? Or that they meet in late March/early April?

Overall though, I definitely agree (for UCLA and most other schools) that the common line of "If you are rejected from our MSTP it in no way affects your MD applciation" is total bull****.

Haha...I was scheduled to, but then I got an offer to go to Vegas on the Friday of my interviews.

Hmmm...Caltech or Vegas...not so much of a contest 🙄

LOL!, I applied with the cal-tech option.... I think I would have had more fun at vegas.

However, It was pretty fun eating some free food at some symposium me and some other applicants crashed. ... and we sort of got in trouble, one of them was from chicago i think, was that you troszic lol.

Status change 2/22, Interviewed Jan 4. I am a UCLA undergrad living 10 minutes away from school. Checked my mail today and ....nothing.

I remember checking the website back in october and discovering that a interview offer had been sent on Oct 15. However I did not recieve the letter invitation in the mail for another 7 days. I am guessing that is going to be the same case here as well.

And to UCLAhope who was rejected already, I am very sorry to hear that. Was your letter sent on the 22nd as well according to the website?
