So the count is up to 8 unranked WLs for those letters sent 3/18.

It's really starting to look like the admissions officers lied to us. That makes me more angry than the prospect of getting a WL.

basically, anything past the unranked wl just means a rejection. i dont think anyone has come off their 2nd wl in a few years, but hey you never know.

that's what people are saying, but I don't understand why the adcom would go to the trouble of ranking people that have no chance of getting in.... why not just put them on a second-tier WL?

1. but sdn just a small sample of the dgsom pool of applicants though? maybe the majority are wl's and there are just a few acceptances sprinkled around to fill up the remainder of the class.

2. all the 3/18 letters weren't sent on the same day. my '3/18' status page update happened on the evening of 3/19. maybe the '3/18' date is just a formality and the actual date or time of day it was sent is more indicative of the final decision.

Does it matter? If you get a hold, you pretty much have no shot.
 
So....I think for all of us who haven't heard, if we get throught tomorrow with no status change then we may have missed this round of WL/rejection letters. Maybe? Hoping?
 
Well I'm officially retiring my username. Add another unranked waitlist to the 3/18 batch.

By the way, my tour guide during the interview tour got in off the hold list...rarely happens though.

Off to UCSD I go...
 
my status said sent 3/18 ... i live in the apartments by UCLA and still havent gotten it 🙁!!!!!

damn... I hope my entire class at SD isn't full of people who don't really want to go there...

Don't worry...I loved SD. UCLA may have been my top choice, but UCSD was a VERY close 2nd. The only thing I didn't like about SD was the long lectures. But I figure if I just skip lectures here and there, it'll turn out to be the same thing (because UCLA students HAVE to go to PBL). 👍
 
Agreed, UCSD and UCLA were pretty much equal in my mind, and now I am glad that I will not have to pick. Still sad about UCLA wait list, but UCSD is certainly not a second choice by any standards. Can't wait for 2nd look weekend. See some of you folks down there at La Jolla!

p.s. If your letter was sent 3/18 please post what the decision was! You probably don't want to post if you got hold or a rejection but it would help a lot of us out!! Thanks and :luck: to all!! If only we could all go to UCLA... Also, if your happy w UCSD and ur on the waitlist at UCLA, why not withdraw?? : )

I just wanted to add a small sliver of hope to those still waiting on letters from the 3/18 batch. My status shows a letter sent on that date and I know that it is indeed an acceptance. It looks like there were at least some acceptances sent out on that day. One caveat, however, is that I am an MSTP applicant so I'm not sure if those are the only acceptances sent out on that day. Good luck to everyone still waiting to hear and to those on the waitlist!

still hasn't arrived in norcal? ok, i reject my pony express hypothesis. i'm fairly certain by this point that the letters have been sent via homing pigeons. my pigeon probably got eaten by a hawk. i will never get my letter 😡

norcal but not in today's mail...hopefully i'll get something tomorrow, the suspense is killing me :scared:

my 3/18 status change happened 3/19 late afternoon. socal, sunny sd.

jumped the poor mailman yesterday and i did it again today.

letter not in yet, hoping for saturday.

3/18 letter sent, status change 3/19 sometime before noon, and hoping for it to reach socal, sunny sd tomorrow too. I did not jump the mail person, I harrassed her at the set of mailboxes down the street.

I thought I failed my virology final -- but I got a 92%.
<-- that will soften the psychological load of any bad news from UCLA, if only just a bit.
 
Got my letter (sent 3/18) today in SD... unranked waitlist. I don't think I'm gonna bother sending in my intent to stay on the list, I'd rather stay in SD where they really want me.

also, for those who were accepted and went to UCLA for undergrad: at what point did you see the "pop-up" on URSA? What it after the status change? Or perhaps before?
 
i actually have heard it was before. like you could check URSA before you actually see the status change and see like a congratulations sign, bearing in mind of course that they recorded it in your file already.
 
I did not have it on my URSA till at least a few days after acceptance mail.
 
Are all of these waitlists post-interview or are people including pre-interview holds too?

PS. I wish I could call the Adm Office now and get them to honestly tell me what the deal with all these delays, mixed responses... are.
 
My status changed to letter sent 3/18 and I just received the letter today in NorCal. It's a HOLD, but unranked. So whoever said the HOLD category is ranked was incorrect. Oh yeah, the effing HOLD category won't be considered before July. By then I will be in Wisconsin. Here I come UWisc. Go Badgers!!!!

i interviewed with NN (older neurologist) and have a letter sent 3/18. my letter has not yet arrived here in norcal (will probably be here tomorrow), but judging by what ive been reading in this thread it is most likely an unranked waitlist. i know of one other poster, RPedigo, who interviewed with NN and also got the unranked waitlist (check earlier posts in this thread to verify).

I too am very curious - has anybody who interviewed with NN gotten an acceptance?
