I am posting my question here, because some of you may have an answer to my question based on your experience. Not counting the logistics (price, weather, etc.. ) and you?ve received an acceptance letter from both schools, what school would you choose and why? 😕

Go to UCSF, unless you are on crack...........

UCSF
I lived in that city for 12 years, the campus is excellent, people are hella nice. UCSF will always be my #1 school and UOP my #2

hi, atlanta478,
you may want to do a search. I post a thread around feb/march to talk about what should i choose. as a matter of fact, here you go.

i would visit the school again. both sch are excellent and very similar. it really comes down to whether you feel like south ca or north ca. a few things about ucla: they may have a problem with patient supply; however, i know they are in the progress to improve that. i have been to several health fairs through ucla(keep in mind that i m year zero.) like other major cities, there are always patients, we just have to find them.

And like all other UC, the budget crisis is quite bothersome. so do expect to pay a little more every year.

hope this helps, feel free to pm me if you have additional question.
of cos you are welcome to come by http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?p=1826828#post1826828 to talk with other incoming ucla students.

hope to see you soon,
eric

dang. now i need to go get me some crack?! man, the things i gotta DO for this school...

hey, atlanta478. i like the fact that UCLA isn't much into PBL. i'm a creature of habit, and am too used to lecture format. But PBL works really great for others! as for crime, UCLA is situated in a very nice area. Bel Air is practically down the street. i know crime is everywhere, but i feel quite safe attending UCLA. now, if yall will excuse me, i need to go find someone to beat up...

Best Wishes! 😀
Sincerely, Sujain

Just wait until you get both acceptances, then decide. Don't stress yourself out unecessary.

That is actually a fairly good theory. You might not get into EITHER school. Wait until you know and then formulate a gameplan.

I know that it sounds kind of kaki, but I am sure that I will have to make this decision shortly, so why not to get ready now. Probably..... I just jink myself 😀
My question was based on some previous posts that mention UC (LA & SF) are sharing info regarding their applicants and both won?t extend the offer to the same person. Based on the info on this post ( Eric thank you again), I think that it was just a roomer.

Anyone got real (read: first hand, not "I know someone who said that...") experience about UCLA and UCSF grad program differences in general and in specific beyond what's on their web pages?

we have a pedo resident from UCSF...
and she spoke glowingly about her alma mater and living in SF...
