Hey guys!

Congrats on everyone's acceptances so far! I was admitted to both the University of Michigan MPH program for Epid and also UCLA. I'm having a hard time deciding between those 2 (and actually still waiting on Hopkins which would REALLY change the decision...) but does anyone have any insight onto why either one would be better?

Thanks!

It depends on what you want to do. Generally, go where you'd be happiest and where the professors are doing research similar to your interests. If you can swing it, try to attend both visit days to get a feel for the program and talk to students.

I've had a great time at UMich - it's great to be on a huge university campus, the professors are very approachable, I've had more opportunities for research than I know what to do with, and living in Ann Arbor is great. The weather is not fantastic but you get used to it (and I say this as someone who did undergrad in SoCal, so snow was a new thing for me).

Not to hate on Hopkins, but their MPH is very much a mid-career program. If you are planning to go on to a PhD or work in research it might be a better choice to attend UMich or UCLA. I have not heard good things about the student experience in the MPH at Hopkins, which is why I turned it down for UMich.
