Hey, can you can a Pharm PHD from the ucsb pharmacology program? thanks.

I'm not sure what you are asking about.

But knowing their pharmacology. I think you can only get a B.S. in pharmacology, but I'm sure they don't have a Pharm D. program there. So it's not the same thing.

No, it's not the same thing. In order to practice, you have to have a Pharm D. or higher.

A B.S. in pharmacology at UCSB is only 1 full year of Pharmacology, 2 quarters of genetics, and 1 year of Biochem and other upper div classes. This doesn't equate to the classes you will have to take to be a license Pharmacist.

So to answer your question, No, you can't practice and do the job that pharmacist do with a B.S. in pharmacology at UCSB.

Pharmacology is a basic science (theory based); it's essentially the chemistry of drugs in a biological system. This field of study is suited for people interested in researching diseases on a molecular level and finding potential compounds for therapeutic use.

I didn't even know there were BS degrees in pharmacology. I was aware of only pharmaceutical sciences.

Yeah yeah! I was a pharm major at UCSB! and no, you cannot get a pharm d out of it, it is geared more toward research industry and then gettign a masters or phd. However, it is an AMAZING major and you will learn SOOO much more than your other classmates and go in a step ahead of everyone else. PM me if you have any other q's!

yes, go gaucho! and the answer is no, although pharmacology's one of the coolest majors(and nastiest with 9hr lab and such) there.

Also a recent gaucho with a B.S. Pharmacology... was an amazing program and I learned a whole lot. The 8+ hour labs were brutal but DEFINITELY worth it.
