Hey Guys,

I was wondering how long should the essay be for the UCSD essay. They did not indicate the length of the essay, but I was wondering what would be an ideal length for their essay. If anyone knows let me know.

Thank you

mine was the same length as my pharmcas personal statement i believe.

Do you use your PharmCas essay, or write a whole other one?

Definitely write a whole other one! I believe the PharmCas one should emphasize why you want to be a pharmacist. The UCSD one (Candidate's Statement) was different because they asked something about academic hardships or something having to do with explaining why you did not do well at a certain point in your undergraduate career (I think). My UCSD one was less than three pages double spaced.

So the UCSD essay prompt says:

"Please describe an academic challenge that you faced during your high school or college education. Please include how you dealt with the challenge and the lesson you learned from it, if any."

Not trying to be pompous here...but I can't think of a time during high school or college that I faced an academic challenge. I definitely faced challenges - more physical and emotional than academic however. Does anyone have a similar situation? How do you address an academic challenge when you can't think of one you've experienced?! I've always been very good at school (just not so much at real life!)

Lie.
Well, more specifically discuss a 'real-life' problem that forced you to suffer academically. You can always describe how you overcame it, and still succeeded- hence your good grades.
