I second that. Waiting is horrible and I really feel for you all. I'm rooting for you. Not sure when you are pinned into other programs or other plans, but I know for a fact that UCSD has accepted people well into July in the past. Furthermore, there is often someone that is called up in August (I know of at least three orientation sessions (for sure) in the last 5-7 years, where someone got the call at the last minute...ie the day before the white coat ceremony, etc). Hopefully, there will be more activity before it gets to that point! Good luck everybody ! Try not to throw in the towel yet, if you can help it.

i'm planning on shipping my car mid-late july and i'll move august 1. i think if it hasn't happened by then, i'm not coming back. i have a spot at a great school that i think i'll be happy at. so that gives UCSD a couple of weeks to come to their senses (j/k)... 🙂

i think it's just in case somebody drops out. the email said their class is currently full and if anyone drops, they'll go to the list. i heard only a few acceptances go out after july 1. i'm wondering how many people are on the new waitlist...it seems there are quite a few of us, which doesn't make too much sense to me. in any case, good luck!

Yes, at this point, I've pretty much given up on the schools I've been wtlstd at. it's a little late, i think. seriously, if i tell myself enough times that i'm over it, maybe i'll be over it... 😳

i'm waitlisted as well. they explained to me that there is little movement before the may 15th deadline. on may 16th however, they expect lots of movement and begin accepting people off the waitlist. hope that helps. lets keep the hope alive!!!

interviewed in late september, accepted a few weeks later with a call and email from my student interviewer

don't trust mdapplicants too much. lots of those people who got accepted didn't matriculate to ucsd... so that skews the numbers higher... infact it skews all med school's numbers higher except for the top schools (my opinion).

I didn't feel like I connected well with my interviewer, but you never know I guess.

my student interviewer (ms4) said there were some small problems but there is new leadership within the med school that's really receptive to students.

i'd like to ask others: tuition/room board costs aside (with financial aid, a few private schools will cost about the same as UCSD).... can a state school like UCSD offer as much as a private school as far as the little things... ie helping you get summer experiences, alumni networks, money for class events/ activities, grants to serve in international clinics, scholarships to start new programs..... it seemed to me like the private schools had more money to throw at their students whcih resulted in better opportunitites. Though, UCSD has a kick as clinic which the priavtes schools don't have so, I don't know.

Well first call them and make sure you are actually in the acceptable pool, because there is a chance they havent gotten to your file yet...then if UCSD is really your top choice, write a strong LOI and send it to them. Good Luck! UCSD is an awesome school and my top choice as well.
