UCSF 2009 Waitlist and Acceptance offer declined

don't worry and relax because it is coming. it's only a matter of time. there is still over 3 motnhs before school starts so there is still plenty of time for you to get your acceptance from them.

They must have overshot the number of acceptances they sent out... I doubt there's going to be a a magical spurt of acceptances like people are implying here. From what I've gathered, people who are holding out for whatever reason and people that are going to be dropped because of grade and other issues will surface later in the summer.

Suparman31, where are you going if you don't get into UCSF? Did you apply anywhere else?

I doubt they overshoot the number of acceptances they send out. Especially for a school like UCSF where most people want to go as one of their top choices, that just seems irresponsible. What if they have more people accept their offers than the number of seats they have avaiable? I think it's still early and most people on the waitlist will be notified of their acceptances over the summer. So keep your hopes up!

Washington State University. Got hopes for UCSF though...the waiting is thoroughly nerve-racking.

How many people have been accepted from the waitlist now? Has the list caught up to the projected number from SDN yet?
 
I live in the valley too 😀 , but I don't think I will be attending UCSF in this lifetime
 
Hi, is anyone here on the waitlist for UCSF also accepted at USC? I'm on the waitlist for USC and am just wondering if there is even a chance of me getting in... it seems that most people will only decline USC b/c of UCSF and/or UCSD.

Actually it seems to have been the other way around this year. There have been lots of people who have been declining UCSF to go to USC and thus freeing up quite a few spots for those on the UCSF waitlist.

How does that explain the one spot change in the wait list?
 
Just wondering...did any of you on the waitlist call and ask? According to the pharmcas 2009 update, ucsf didn't send out more than 122 offers (other schools did)? This doesn't help explain why they have only accepted one person off the list. Good luck. I know how it feels to be on the waitlist for months and not hear back from the school🙁.

I'm not on the waitlist but when I called OSACA to turn down my spot at UCSF to go to VCU, it sounded like most of the movement was going to take place closer to the start of school. I think that's when they have a better idea of just how many they will be letting off the waitlist. Perhaps they are waiting until then to fill (all at once) the seats vacated by people that have declined their UCSF offers? Good luck to you guys still waiting!

When was the notice that said only one person was accpeted off the waitlist sent out? If it was awhile ago, they might have actually accepted more already but those of you on the waitlist just haven't been updated yet.

I don't have an answer to that question. That is somewhat odd, I have to admit... 😕 But if you look at the earlier posts to this thread, you'll see that quite a few people are declining their spots at UCSF, so there must be seats available.

But maybe rupellason is right and that they are just waiting til later to notify all the people that will be taken off the waitlist of their acceptances simultaneously. 👍 Keep your hopes going! I'm still rooting for you guys!
 
Also keep in mind that this is a public forum where anybody can post anything they please. While I'm wishing you waitlisters the best, understand that people make shi* up all the time. SDN is not an accurate source for waitlist movement and tracking your waitlist position through it almost seems silly.
 
Any chance that there will be movement at the end of July? The letter did say it is best not to expect any movement until the latter half of July. I was hopeful before, but with the extremely slow movement of the waitlist, I'm not so sure anymore. =/

While I agree that SDN may not be an accurate source for waitlist movement, I don't think anyone would come on here just to post completely false statements to rasie other people's hopes up for no reason. I think that would just be a really mean thing to do... 🙁
 
There is not WList movement at UCSD neither.
Any waitlisters here have accepted UCSD offer? If you are accepted to SF, will u decline UCSD. Since UCSD do not require deposit to hold the positions..

It doesn't make sense to wait towards the start of the school to take people in from the waitlist. UCSD is officially full. It gave out about 90 offers and took in quite a few people from the waitlist. I'm not even on the waitlist for SF. I have given up hope for SD.

Sometime next week they will send out the 3rd regular mail update. For those who are still not getting ready for the back up school, I suggest you should do that now.
 
Ok 3rd update letter... moved up 1 spot.... Did you move up 1 spot as well superman31? I wonder if the 2nd person on the list got in or this movement is just a result from someone on the list dropped out.

Looks like they must be finally starting to fill all the spots that were vacated by all the people that have declined UCSF for other schools. Hopefully this will get the ball rolling and the waitlist will move up through at least the number of people who have declined their spots on SDN. Good luck to you guys on the waitlist! 👍

Yup, moved up a spot. Hopefully the letters hold true and more spots open up toward the end of July...
 
There is supposed to be an email update this week, but I haven't gotten anything yet. I'm hoping for some good news, I could really use it.

Joel told me in an email that there is no waitlist movement since the last update.

WOW!! That seems unusual. I thought there would be much more movement by now on the waitlist. Maybe more people accepted this year than expected.
 
Waitlist movement has been pretty slow this year. Only 3 people have been accepted off the waitlist. I started out at #11 and was #8 as of the last update. I really thought there would be more movement. 🙁

Actually only 2 people have been accepted off the waitlist since April, the 3rd person withdrew from the waitlist. If this remains the same till September, it will set a new record low (2) for UCSF pharmacy waitlist acceptance. (The current record low is 3 btw).
 
I'm hoping cafemed and meteor hear from UCSF soon. It's really not fair to be dragged on this long - and those two need to know when to move on to thinking of other plans.

I think it's safe to say that now is a good time to consider pursuing backups.

That really, really sucks. When I saw so many declines early on, I thought I had a chance. I'm extremely discouraged at this point.

I guess UCSF won't send out status updates unless there is movement on the waitlist. I haven't received any emails from them and the week is over.

Yesterday, I started driving from California to Washington to start at my backup school. Today, 700 miles into my trip, I received a call from Joel saying that I have been accepted off the wait list. On my journey back to California now....typing this message from a hotel in Sacramento.
