I'm not PDizzle, but I go to the same undergrad (Berkeley) and have the same stats. Just interviewed at UCLA this past Tuesday. Keep your head up, I'm sure good news is coming down the pipes.

I didn't even get a secondary from UCLA!! The reason is that I really did poorly at Cal (2.89 GPA!!). That was a long time ago and I wasn't planning on dental school at the time. My other school's grades were near perfect though (3.98 GPA) so the avg came out to be decent.

My app was complete in late Aug.

Good luck. Remember this is just the beginning of the second round. Stay possitive! 🙂

One thing I know about SF is that if you get a interview in March you really have to be an amazing applicant as the class will be mostly full by then. Most the interviewers will be alternates.

You got an interview to UCLA though! don't sweat it, And good luck!

undergrad GPA: 3.35, grad GPA: 3.81

AA: 21 (22 RC, 21QR), TS: 21 (22 bio, 21 ochem, 21 gchem), PAT: 23

bunch of shadowing (200+ hrs) and bunch of research (1 paper published so far)

volunteer, blah, blah, blah.....

BUT, I did not submit my AADSAS application until september and most schools had my file complete mid December,

The reason I ask is because UCSF and UCLA are both great schools with similar stats so I wanted to see how many other people heard from one but not the other.

Thanks for all the input.

hey whats up man! congrats on the acceptance..maybe i'll see you at UCSF next year?

Congratulations that's awesome! When did you interview, if you don't mind me asking?

I interviewed on Wed, Jan 13. You've been accepted to UoP..if you were also accepted to UCSF, which would you choose?

That's a tough one. Here is my opinion:

If you want to specialize or go into research, I'd say UCSF. Also, if $ is a concern and you are a CA resident, I'd also go UCSF.

If you don't mind, or even like, a super intense program and are going to be a GP, I'd go UoP (for the three year thang).

I don't have to make that choice (not getting into UoP) but even if I did I would still go to UCSF.

Bottom line is that you can't go wrong with those two schools! Congrats on the acceptances. Maybe I will see you this fall!

It seems like the two UCs look at applicants a bit differently. There was a member (also CA resident) with 4.0+ GPA and sky rocking DAT last year. She applied early and was accepted pretty much everywhere including UCLA. However, she did not hear from UCSF almost toward the end of the cycle. Your case may be different, but it could very well be that you have something that they don't quite like it.

Plus CA has sooooooo many great applicants with great gpa's, DAT scores. etc. It's extremely cometitive. As long as I get something positive from 1 cali school, I'm ok....i'm not greedy 🙂

True. I'm still shocked at how the hell I got in!
