Hi all.

So, I had a quick Q about UCSF.

I went there in early October to interview and they said that they notify applicants on/around Dec. 15th.

I was hoping to find the acceptance thread for last year's aaplicants and see when UCSF acceptances actually went out. Could anyone help me?

Yes they were.

I think they started interviews on October 4th.

i think they do mail them out starting on dec. 15 or so-- I know my friend didn't get her letter when we left for break and that was around 12/12 or so last year.

I interviewed in october too--this waiting is driving me crazy!

waiting is driving me nuts! I interviewed about 7.5 weeks ago...so I don't even know if I'll hear this month...or what it will mean if I don't!

The scary thing is that the acceptances come on the 15th of each month and the waitlists come on the 1st. If I don't hear something this month, I might go crazy because I won't know whether it is because I was waitlisted or because it hasn't been enough time post-interview (I interviewed Nov. 2).

Yea..I intervied on Nov 16...and my interviewer said I probably wouldnt even hear in January since they are so slow 🙁 . They said MINIMUM of 8 weeks right?

There are threads about UCSF acceptances from last year. From last year's thread, it really does take at least 8 weeks or so. I saw one exception where somebody interview mid-November and got an acceptance in December.

The status check site says my app has been complete since 11/2 (I know, not that long yet) and that I should expect to hear back in 8 weeks, I'm just wondering how long it actually takes them to get back to you.

UCSF is very good about keeping their 8 weeks. Like they said, invites come by email and everything else (hold/rejection) by mail. From my experience, it took them 7.5 weeks to get back to me.

Nah, got put on hold. Didn't really expect much from them. I am going to start sending in letters of interest though, just to see if I can get a crack at em. How did you fare?

i'm on hold as well, but they deliberated over my application for 10 weeks after i sent in my secondary. i really love sf but i'm starting to hate ucsf now because of the random nature of who they interview and accept (i also noticed this last year with some of my friends).

No, actually I just submitted my application early.

I don't expect to get in, however 🙁 🙁 🙁

UCSF is a cool school and I hope to go the Cali.

I was complete in late August and got the inteview invite on October 6.

they gave me a secondary 8/31/2004
my secondary was complete 9/10/2004
they invited me to interview 10/14/2004
i went to the interview 11/9/04

Yikes, so the 8 weeks rule doesn't necessarily mean that we will hear soon. Some people on that list had to wait three months!

Yeah, but other people had to wait fewer than 8 weeks too. So you never know.

Nonehteless, the waiting part is so scary because you don't know what to expect on the other side 🙁 .

UCSF does send out its first round of acceptances on Dec15 via snail mail. Keep an eye out for that packet. Good luck!

Sorry to be anal, but does that mean accepted students should expect their packets on Dec. 15th, or do they usually have to wait a couple of days (i.e., till the 19th)?

My acceptance took 9-10 weeks to get to me...on the cool side it did arrive on Valentine's Day 🙂

I called the admissions office today and someone told me that they will probably start mailing acceptance letters Friday.

Unfortunately, I did not ask...maybe I should have. Anyhow, I think they are extremely stringent about revealing information over the phone.

I want to know if I've been reviewed, too! I know they said 8 weeks, but still ... I want an acceptance from UCSF for Christmas, darn it!
