UCSF admissions meeting

So I almost had a heart attack today. One of the ladies from UCSF's admissions committee called me in the lab and I thought it might be kinda funny to share the coversation...

UCSF lady: Hi is this ____?
Me:Yes this is her.
UCSF: Hi this is ___ from the Admissions Office down the hall.
Me: (heart starts beating, mind racing, palms getting sweaty)
UCSF: I would like to ask you....
Me: yes...
UCSF: if I could schedule a time...
Me: (what? they want another interview or something??)
UCSF: to reserve the conference room down the hall.
Me: OHHH...
UCSF: We would like to use it tomorrow.
Me: (hmmm, how can I put a good word in for myself? perhaps writing something on the dry erase board in the conference room?? hmmm...) Okay, I don't think anyone is using it tomorrow. etc. etc.

Kinda nerve racking, but funny. I don't think that happens to very many people

i just got rejected MSTP/invited MD by UCSF. GrrRRRrRrR. Oh well, wasnt really expecting an MD/PhD invite. Guess many would kill for an MD invite there.

Hey Seventhson- I'd still consider their MD program. I've met a lot of med students at UCSF that do one year of research- completing the MD in 5 years. I think even if you weren't to do a PhD at UCSF, you could still get involved in research and even be competitive in getting a postdoc or residency/postdoc. That's just the general feel I've gotten from working here and talking to people.

yeah ucsf is incredible and one of the schools and i would possibly consider going MD there over some other places MD/PhD, as they have a lot of people doing stuff in my research interest areas. It would depend on the odds of my ability to transfer in MD/PhD.

Oh whooops i'm sitll not holding a single acceptance letter, let's see how everything pans out first 🙂
