hello everyone.
I wanted to share some info regarding UCSF applications:
1) You can drop off the application yourself at the UCSF admissions dept. just call/ e-mail Mrs. Pham one day in advance.
2) a profile that shows continued interest in dentistry is preferred. gaps dont look good.
3) be prepared to show an original cert / credit for everything that goes in your CV - I dont think they will check everything you say, but U may be asked to show an original during the IV
4) you can now submit upto 5 LORs. one dean and one HOD are mandatory. but the remaining 3 could be ANY ONE - a friend, a mentor, a priest - any one. UCSF does not have an LOR time bound policy. so u can submit a LOR thats even (for example) 5 yrs old.
5) the average TOEFL score for last year was 112. It is recommended that you have a good TOEFL score. If not, u still have time to re-take the exam. your new score can be updated in an already submitted application too (within the august 12 deadline)
6) dont wait for last week of applications. apply now. although UCSF does not rank, order any applications based on the date they were recieved on, it helps to have eevrything in order and submitted on time. last weeks are hectic for the admissions office, so its always better to catch them in a good mood before the last week.
7) UCSF is super friendly. dont shy from coming down and meeting people. calling / e-mailing the admissions office to clarify doubts.
8) Next year - the admission pattern at UCSF will change, with the change in NBDE to pass/fail.
