Lades & Gentlemen, please welcome the UCSF class of 2012, The Difference Makers. UCSF, one of the finniest institutions in the world, will be our home for the next 4 years. The uniqueness of our class will be evident in the people associated with it. We promise you that we all will be committed to work as a team, as one heart, one mind, and one voice toward a common purpose. Our purpose would be far beyond graduating on time and becoming competent dentists. Our purpose and mission statement will be determined by the entire class. Whatever out mission will be, we will be ONE Family working together toward that common goal. UCSF School of Dentistry will remember class of 2012 as The Difference Makers!!!

Dear future classmates, if you approve this message, please show your support and unity. Feel free to edit, change, or add your own ideas.

Our purpose and mission statement should be to make sure I graduate at the top of the class and match in whatever specialty/residency that I want. I am so glad that we are all united in this cause.

The only difference I wanna see is a greater difference than a 4 point spread. This superbowl suxXXXXX!!!!!

Here's my edit:

Isn't is a little presumptuous to start writing the class mission statement when your entire class hasn't been compiled yet, let alone the fact that SDn makes up only a very minor portion of those who are going to your school?

So besides being competent dentists what could your mission possibly be?
Don't tell me it involves a laser

I hate the term "competent dentist." Competence is good, but it has a minimalist ("good enough") connotation to it. A "superb dentist" is much more qualified than a "competant dentist." Please be aware of this when you describe yourself as a competant dentist.

The humility of having 3 threads on UCSF pryd3 overwhelms me. Dear God.

Nice school though. Good education. Good luck to y'all.

I'm going to start a 4th UCSF thread specifically for non-ucsf people to post stuff in. The first 3 are for the priviledged few only. 😀

Hi
I just want to say sorry for making this thread. My objective was to encourage team work and unity among my future classmates. So, we all be like a big family, help each other and make the next four years a little more enjoyable for everyone. But, I guess that created the wrong impression on most of you. I did not make this post to make a positive impression of myself on everyone or anything in that nature. So, please accept my apology. We will be spending four years together and no need to be too hard on each other.

P.S. I just sent a message to Administrator to delete the thread.

HAHAHA! This is embarrassing. And is making me think of withdrawing my acceptance 🙄

Tom,

I am not sure why you are apologizing. If you are encouraging team work and unity more power to you. I don’t see anything wrong with that. First, on my interview day the admission director mentioned that the reason that UCSF went from ABC grading to P/F system is to encourage team work and enhance competency. Secondly, my student interviewer pointed out that one thing that she loves about her class is that everyone works together. Third, on my personal statement and interview I argued that I am a team player, and now if I criticize your post, I would be contradicting myself. Finally, out of all those who made comments on your post, I am not sure how many of them will be attending UCSF or attending UCSF. So the point is this, there might be, and I sure there is , a lot of people in the class who likes to see team work and unity. And therefore, you don’t need to say sorry.
