If anyone hears from this most-desirable <img border="0" alt="[Lovey]" title="" src="graemlins/lovey.gif" /> school, could you, please post what you got and when was it post-marked (and where you live). I live in SF. Also, if you guys call them, could you please share what they say their projected mailing date is? I could not extort any info from them today. THis is driving me ABSOLUTELY NUTS!!!!!! Jedi, yes I'm going to Drew on Sat. Are you flying out of SFO or Oakland? Maybe we can split the cab on the way back to the airport, after the interview. Matthew: I will probably scream like crazy and run around hug everyone (i did when i heard about the interview at ucsf).

Lady -- I flew out of Oakland yesterday, and have been relaxing at home with my parents since. I should have a car on Saturday so getting you to the airport shouldn't be a problem. Bring an umbrella because it might rain here on Sunday.

Jedi, What do you look like (so that I don't come up to everyone at the interview site and ask if they are Jedi In training &gt; oh, no, and I don't wear red!!

Lady -- You will be looking for a Latino male. I expect 10 other applicants will look like me (short black hair, dark brown eyes, dark blue suit). However, I believe you will find me by the will of the Force ... or the words "Jedi In Training" written on my name tag, which I expect will be given out.

Are you serious? No, don't write Jedi on your tag, they won't take you seriously! I am a white female.

I understand your concern. I will wear a tag with my name and SDN name in small letters just below it so you can recognize me. Just remind me to take it off before I go to my interview.

Just to trying to calm some nerves for the next couple of days.

Remember this is a holiday weekend. Some schools got Friday and Monday off. Last month, UCSF didn't mail these letters until a week after the 15th. Thus, there seems to be a good chance that those who have been recently accepted would not receive anything until the middle of next week.

Jedi: I did not go to UCLA/Drew--too many problems (family, job, plus i have 1 acceptance and figured they won't take me anyway). hope you weren't too disappointed How did it go? Did you wear your Jedi tag? met any cool people?
I got a PO Box notice for some intriguing piece of mail that does not fit my mailbox. Probably wishful thinking, but hey, its dated Feb. 16 and I live in SF! Too bad I can't get it until Tuesday Maybe just another joke from UCSF post-bac program

Lady -- Disappointed? Maybe a little. The interview went well, but they didn't have name tags so you would have had a hard time finding me if you had gone. I ran into so many familiar faces yesterday that I thought that I just ran out of time and didn't find you. There were lots of people involved in interesting activities and research. At some point, one of the medical student interviewers wanted to address questions from the interviewees, but this one guy from Alaska took full advantage of him asking question after question after quesiton ... SMW, jdub, or mpp?

I regret now that I didn't go! Got two more rejections yesterday, but oh well. I am such an idiot. Wasted a plane ticket, too! But I read they only had 20-some spaces, right? Did they tell you the chances of admission? A guy from Alaska? Well, SMW is a female as far as I know. I thought they only took in-state! btw, if i went, i would have worn a black dress, not red , so you would have probably recognized me

Lady -- Sorry to hear about your weekend news. Dr Miller informed us that out of the 2000 applications, 240 get interviews, and 48 get accepted to fill their class of 24 ... 1/5 chance of acceptance if you interview. As for UCSF, I am still waiting for news myself (interviewed early January). Maybe we'll finally meet as classmates.

Javi•••••Jrucb -- I did go to Berkeley as an undergrad, and have continued to work on campus doing research while I apply. I know what you mean about seeing few Latino applicants. PM or post questions if you think I can help you out in any way.

I called them toward the end of January and all they would say to me was, "Read the blue flyer that you received the day of your interview".

I do not think that they are going to be giving out hints or other pearls that might help give us any patience.

When I called in January for the January batch, they told me when the letters were sent out. So I think if you guys call and be nice they might let you know if they have sent out February acceptances yet. In January the letters were sent out on the 23rd instead of the 15th so hang there guys.

Noone called today? I got home from work too later to call. Damn, I'm curious to know whether or not they sent the most recent set of acceptances out yet.

Here is my 'ingenious' calculation: last month, January, the Monday of the 21st was the holiday, and they sent out acceptances on Wednesday, the 23rd, so most people got them by the 25th. If the same applies to this months (18th--monday was the holiday), and their committee is scheduled to meet wednesday, then they would send them out tomorrow, the 21st. I was too chicken to call, I was tempted all day though, but I am scared, b/c they already know who i am.
Somebody, (maybe a guy?) please call them tomorrow!

I asked if they had a mailing on the 15th as planned and the woman's reply was "No, but we are going to try to send some this week." Interpret that as you may.

Lady, you should get in for persistence alone! That's what I call dedication! I would call, but my interview was about two weeks ago. They might laugh and say "we told you atleast 8 weeks, you *****!"

Ok, the reason I am mad, I am trying to decide where to live (my lease ended), so if UCSF tells me to go to hell, I'll move closer to my job, which is a 40-minute drive away, if not, I'll live in a cardboard box on Parnassus (to save money before school starts )--now THATS dedication!! ConstantlyWaiting, I am thinking, i'll get an answer at 9 1/2 weeks (I am currently at 8 weeks exactly). Call me crazy! but I want to go to that school REAL BAD!!

I've never been on campus, but I've heard great things... I withdrew there a while ago (they've only let in one international in the past six years, so I didn't think my chances were too great). So, there's now one less person competing with you.

I came home from work early today (a long week and already had put in too many hours) and could not believe my eyes when I found the long awaited and much drooled over "large envelope". They did send them a couple of days ago (sorry, I can't read the postmark).

I still can't believe that I got in!! Good luck to you all. I hope your wait is soon over as well.

BTW, I interviewed Dec 4th.

Lady, I think we would get the mail the same day as you do. I live in Turlock/Modesto (just 2 hours drive from you).

I am 30 and do not celebrate like all of the young folk. I already had a dinner scheduled with my parents and some other family members. I will celebrate with relief and release of inner angst. Good luck.

Lady, I live only 40 minutes away from SF but got my acceptance days after everyone else did, so don't fret. You never know how local post offices work. And b/c it is a larger-than-average size envelope, it's more likely to be delayed--even if you live in SF.

Could you do us people who are still waiting a favor? I was wondering if you could give a call (intention to thank the admissions staff) and while chatting with them about how excited you are about the ucsf acceptance ask them approximately how many acceptances they have sent out so far. Maybe they would be more inclined to share inside info with someone that has just been welcomed into to their realm.

Again, congratulations! UCSF is the best medical school per $ in the country, hands down.

just wondering when those that hear in this batch interviewed? I interviewed in dec 20th, and figure I should be in this batch, but I'm not sure. Mail won't get to baltimore probably till monday or tuesday anyways.
