I wish current UCSF-IDP students/ UCSF alumnis/ DDS aspirants with previous UCSF interview experiences share their interview experience on this thread.
I'm curious to know and wanna get familiar to it,
I kindly request to enlighten me.
Thanks in anticipation!
there's are angel- La Fea.
direct and concise as always.
thanks a lot!
do they provide the handpiece/ burs/ hand instruments?
what do we need to carry with us?
is the typhodont on the bench or on a manikkin?
last year- day 1 dexterity exam. 3 hours, 2 preps(full gold crown) 1 each on upper and lower molar.
Day 2- Meet and greet, program info, lunch
Days 3 and 4 personal interviews.
After that nerve wrecking wait
And then celebration
Thanks buddy!
Oh yeah. They provide it all- burs, hand piece, hand instruments, smiles and encouragement.
Take your confidence/guts. SHUT OUT people who bring you down in subtle ways- those douch bags are everywhere.
Manikin. But it's not too bad.
For all those who are still waiting for their packages and anxious...

Hi, i found this from an old posting. Could you confirm if there is an mcq portion. BTW i recieved interview call on 9/11.
2 interviewers per person, 30 mins or so duration with faculty and/ or staff. You might be able to meet students informally though, ask questions etc.
No, for the dexterity exam, for UCSF, you dont have to take anything.
Somebody plz help,
Cuz even I heard same kinda things, that's why asking again:
1) Does UCSF conduct any written exam of 120 questions based on part-2 for interview?
2) Do we have to write any essay on day-1?
I wish La Fea introduces us in detail.
They did not have that last year.
You will find out when you get the hard copy of the invitation.
Patience? 🙂
Or you can just ask Mary Pham.

hi guys,
Congrats for the interview call,
The crown prep " will be full crown" preps nothing like 3/4 or 7/8. you don need to temporize, no written exam, and one to one interview with faculty. For the exam school gives you full material hand pieces, typodont, instruments, burs etc. If you are used to using dental loupes you get them ( not provided by school). Its gonna be a fun experience. Just chillax 🙂
