last year- day 1 dexterity exam. 3 hours, 2 preps(full gold crown) 1 each on upper and lower molar.
Day 2- Meet and greet, program info, lunch
Days 3 and 4 personal interviews.

After that nerve wrecking wait
And then celebration

there's our angel- La Fea.
direct and concise as always.
thanks a lot!

do they provide the handpiece/ burs/ hand instruments?
what do we need to carry with us?
is the typhodont on the bench or on a manikkin?

Thanks buddy!

Oh yeah. They provide it all- burs, hand piece, hand instruments, smiles and encouragement.

Take your confidence/guts. SHUT OUT people who bring you down in subtle ways- those douch bags are everywhere.

Manikin. But it's not too bad.

I heartily thank you for information,
Is it one on one interview?
Also, is there any interview with current students at UCSF apart from the interview with faculty/professors?
Thanks in anticipation!

do we need any particular typhodont or will that be made available as well?

Hi, i found this from an old posting. Could you confirm if there is an mcq portion. BTW i recieved interview call on 9/11.
For all those who are still waiting for their packages and anxious...

1. Written test - 100 plus Multiple choice questions on Oct 21st - 2 1/2 hours duration - subjects - oral DIAGNOSIS & treatment planning, oral medicine , radiology, orthodontics, periodontology, prosthodontics-FPD-RPD-complete dentures, endo, operative emergencies, pedodontics, dental materials, anatomy.

2. Technical test - October 22nd - full veneer gold crown prep on mandibular AND maxillary - 2 preps - instrument list is given with the letter- 3 hours time - all instruments & typodonts and manikin provided by school.

3. general orientation and Q & A session on Monday

4. Interview on tuesday/ wednesday - 30 minute duration - by 2 interviewers

2 interviewers per person, 30 mins or so duration with faculty and/ or staff. You might be able to meet students informally though, ask questions etc.

No, for the dexterity exam, for UCSF, you dont have to take anything.

Somebody plz help,

Cuz even I heard same kinda things, that's why asking again:

1) Does UCSF conduct any written exam of 120 questions based on part-2 for interview?
2) Do we have to write any essay on day-1?

I wish La Fea introduces us in detail.

They did not have that last year.
You will find out when you get the hard copy of the invitation.
Patience? 🙂

Or you can just ask Mary Pham.

Hello All

This is my first post. I have been observing from the sidelines as I had nothing to contribute. The forum has been a great help to newcomers like me.
I recently received an invite from UCSF for 25-28 oct 👍. I dont have those stupendous stats like some of you out there, so was really surprised at the invite 😉.
It would be a great help if we discuss specifics for the interview preparation- esp the practical exam.

those who got interview can you tell me what are the dates in oct they call for an interview?

Hello

I am looking for a female- preferably Indian to share accommodation for the UCSF interview 25-28 Oct. Pls PM me.

hi moka
I am a female from India, invited for UCSF interview on 25-28 oct.i'll like to share accommodation with you.my e-mail is [email protected].u can e-mail me.

Hello,

Could any one please help me regarding the type of typodont model used in ucsf......

If any one has the typodont model, plz let me know.. Iam interested in buying.
Thanks

I think its columbia typhodont. Not really sure.

hey i also got interview call from UCSF

They will give you typodont for your practical exam but you would need one for yourself to practice. They provide Kilgore but I think their manikins are compatible with Columbia as well.

I have a Columbia typodont. PM me if you need it.

Has anyone recieved the invitation package via mail yet?
what preps do we have this year?

Yup I received the mail ....we have to do 2 gold crowns on upper and lower molar tooth...

I have yet to receive a rejection or invitation from them? anyone experiencing the same thing?😕

hey dentheartthrob.. i haven't recieved any invitation or rejection letter either..

Are they going to send rejection letters for sure?I was in the impression that they contact thru email to whom they r sending invitations and later thru snail mail but no email means no invitation....Am I right ? I didn't get any of it either:meanie:

Hi;

I also received a call from UCSF. I am yet to receive the packet. In the meantime could you please tell which mandibular and maxillary(molar) teeth are to be prepared? Also which typodont they are going to provide?

Thanks in advance

I'm looking for a cool female dentist to share accomodation in San Francisco. Let me know if anyone's interested! Let's reserve a place! 🙂

Gold crown preparation on both upper and lower molar teeth. They have not specified the tooth number.Kilgore typodonts will be provided which will be mounted on Frasaco manikin.3 hrs for the exam.Hope this helps.

Hi;

Does anyone has any idea which kilgore typodont would be provided.. i mean the series..
also in the packet it is mentioned that full veneer crown prep are required but why have they included temporization and the prep of 7/8 partial veneer crown ?
Any idea..Do we need to prepare these as well.
Thanks .

are both the preps FVP or one FVP and the other 7/8th?
could someone scan a copy and mail it to me [email protected]
thankx.

Hi BombayBDS,
It is clearly stated in their brochure " The technical exam will consist of a full veneer(gold) crown preparations on a lower (mandibular) molar and a full veneer crown preparation on an upper (maxillary) molar. " So have they included the details of temporization etc just for knowledge sake? anyone any idea.........

well, i havn't got their brochure yet so cant say abt temporisation.
u guys are confusing me... maybe i'll wait for the package to reach me.

hi guys,
Congrats for the interview call,
The crown prep " will be full crown" preps nothing like 3/4 or 7/8. you don need to temporize, no written exam, and one to one interview with faculty. For the exam school gives you full material hand pieces, typodont, instruments, burs etc. If you are used to using dental loupes you get them ( not provided by school). Its gonna be a fun experience. Just chillax 🙂

Thanks for your clarification.
The personal interviews, how many of them do we have? The interviews were divided into 2.5 days, so do we get assigned to one of the sessions or more?
