UCs don't give out very many merit scholarships at all. As far as I know, there are a few full 4-year Regents' Scholarships, but that's it. This goes for all UCs. Other than that I think everything else is just for URM/underprivileged types.

edit: someone please correct me if I'm wrong, cause I've always been interested in this too.

I know that the UCs have no money, but only 4 full scholarship??? For all of the UC system??? That sucks!

Hmm...I live super close and didn't get anything in today's mail. You know, if they mailed them Tuesday, they may not have made the mail drop in time. Which means they are in Wednesday's mail and with Monday being the deadline for taxes, the mail could just be backed up.

Ok, I will go back to trying not to obsess now.

I got a package in the snail mail from UCSF today. It was a big but thin envelope. Fyi, I interviewed on October 27th. It's my top choice. I'm so excited, I really loved UCSF! Good luck to everyone who is waiting to hear!

Yeah I got high priority on Friday too. interviewed in Feb sent in my secondary in dec and completed amcas in late sept. Did anyone try calling about their position on the list..what response did they get?

If you look at the bottom of the letter, it says not to call and that the list has not been ranked yet so they don't know your position.

I went to the UCSF accepted students weekend...and there were LOTS of REALLY undecided people. Don't give up hope!!!! Good luck!

Don't give up. The undecided people have some pretty tough choices, and I do think the high priority list will move. I know now that I'll definitely be there, but a lot of the people I talked to still had no idea.

Wow, you guys all made me feel really good. I figured my chances of getting in off the high priority list is slim (which it still might be), but at least for a brief moment you've given me some hope.

well you have to consider that most people who know they're going there aren't going to bother forking up the money to fly in. I went to the ucsd 2nd look and i also ran into very few people who knew they were going there.

True, but I would venture to guess that at least 50 of the 100 people at the second look weekend were completely on the fence, and some others were pretty sure but not positive about UCSF. So I guess . . . take it however you want?

The most common seemed to be UCSF vs Harvard. Either that or UCSF vs Stanford/UCLA/other CA schools. And a couple of JHU as well.

me too. i interviewed mid february and i am still waiting to get some kinf of response. We should hear back sometime this week. When did you interview?

I would call, especially since you have been waiting a LONG time since your interview (you interviewed in October if I remember corrrectly?)

cute dog! i remember your dog questions too 🙂 i have a cat and live in SF now. it's a little tough finding a place that allows pets, but there must be plenty out there because i see sooo many people with dogs! craigslist postings usually say if pets are or aren't allowed. that's probably your best bet.

I already got a few leads on places students with pets live now, in particular a comples (a really nice first year heard my question and gave me the info on this complex).

If it comes down to it, I'll live a little farther or pay a little more if it means I get to have my pup. I plan on looking at craigslist every day for the next couple months!

I just called the office since I interviewed in Oct and I heard zip since then, and they told me that they sent out something for me yesterday. Ahhh now I'm totally anxious. well after months and months (and months) of waiting, I got high priority. O why oh why did it take them THIS long to tell me I got high priority?? Why couldn't they just tell me in the first batch since I interviewed at the very beginning of the season. Argh.
