I just called UCSF and I found out that I have been selected for an interview too. I have started preparing for the interview now, but I am still unclear on what I should expect during the interview session. I have not received a package from them as of yet, since it is being sent out today. For those who have received the package, what does it say about the interview, what procedures should we practice, the timetable, etc?

y dont all of us try to collect max. info and post it in this thread so that we dont end up making fool of ourselves on interview day...

congratulations on being invited to UCSF for interview !!!
u do not have to bring ur own instruments....ur 200$ practical exam fee will take care of it....instruments will be provided !!! i think we all will receive another set of instructions from UCSF soon....so that will be more helpful!!!!

I received an invitation from UCSF to interview on Nov.13 too. I think all those of us who have already received an invitation should post any information/ instruction that we receive from UCSF for the benefit of others. As of now I haven't received anything. Anybody received more information yet?

both PARTIAL veneer and full crown it seems

i just got an email from them.They have send detailed instructions which include ,schedule, examination detail,exercise detail(The technical examination will consist of a full veneer (gold) crown preparation on a lower (mandibular) molar and a full veneer crown preparation on an upper (maxillary) molar. )
They have also send a step by step instruction manual for crown prepration.
i hope u all will recieve the email soon..

hi I think everyone got the same synopsis of crown preparation. so we have to do 3/4 crown preparation also in technical test? or only full veneer crwon? UCSF is really good one that they are telling what we have to prepare in technical test as compare to other ones.

ok guys, i am confused now...the synopsis which i got has no mention of a pvc or 3/4th crown prepration.they just talked abour fvc on upper and lower molar.it might be mistake on their part.lets try to help , rather that pulling each other down.if some one can tell what they exactly have on the synopsis, i would really appreciate it.
Regarding the written test, i totaly agree that we really have a short time,but we have to do it;there is no way out....i am in same boar we sink or sail together.

It is mentioned that we can practice one week before at ucsf in evening time on weekdays, but we have to bring the handpiece, typodent, burs for the practice.

😍 I had a great time at UCSF. We had a written exam on sunday. The written exam is all about part II and some questions about dental anatomy.

I had my interview on wednesday and I felt great with those people. They are really friendly to me.
This is a wonderful school and it's highly competitive to get in.

Hi,

I thought the interview process went well, but it is difficult to predict what will happen since there were so many well-qualified students there. They called around 75 applicants, but only about 65 showed up. Clinical exam details were provided beforehand and were different from the previous year. Written exam was not so difficult, but was quite subjective, almost all prostho, part 2 material. Interview was very laid back and just general questions like:

1) Tell me about yourself
2) Why UCSF
3) What sets you apart from other applicants
4) Dental experience/goals
5) Future plans
6) Family background, what you do outside dentistry
7) Solo practice or group practice, why?

They say we should get the results on the 16th of December, but based on previous years, they should have the results by the first week of December. It is my preferred school and I really hope things work out. Let's see what happens. If anyone has anymore questions, please feel free to ask.
