ucsf allows you the chance to become in state after one year
so it will be cheaper i think

you could consider uconn if you are going to practice in the area because it will give you better contacts in the future...

UConn also lets you get in state after a year and tuition is less than UCSF from what I can tell. And it’s way cheaper to live outside Hartford,CT compared to SF.

You have to apply for it, so it’s not 100% but it is very, very high. I think the biggest thing that would prevent you from getting in state is if your parents still claim you as a dependent on taxes.

from the interview day it seems like almost every OOS student gets it if they follow the checklist UConn provides.

I got OOS tuition at UConn after my first year. Just had to show some bills in my name, a bank account (I think), and some other misc things. It was really straight forward for me, but who knows if it changed since then.

Also, FWIW, UConn gave me a great education. I can't speak for UCSF, but its a strong academic program with good specialty rates if thats your gig.

Does anyone have any insight into comparing these two schools for OMFS? How is interacting with the OMFS faculty at each school as a dental student? How significantly does the medical curriculum at UConn help in preparing for the CBSE? Both schools have a 2.5-3 month break after first year that can be dedicated to studying for the CBSE. Currently trying to decide between these two schools and very interested in OMFS. I am OOS for both schools but a New England resident so UConn will be cheaper.
