hey guys - just got home from out of town today to find a large envelope from ucsf. I feel so honored. Even though ucsf was my DREAM school for several years, I'm going with ucla because of family reasons and also cuz it's a great school - very excited! Soooo....just wanted to let you waitlisters know that this one's for you....

hi everyone! i am also anxiously hoping to be accepted off of the waitlist at ucsf, and thus am guilty of feverishly checking this thread approx 2000 times per day for any news. i thought it was about time to stop lurking and join in. 🙂

the good news is that one of my friends is choosing ucla over ucsf, so another spot will be opening up later this week...

Now I am in Moscow (just came from Turkey, Georgia, Ukraine to Moscow) and I am about to take the Trans-siberian train from Moscow to Beijing stopping in Mongolia. I thought this would be a good time to get my travel bug out since we will be studying for the next few years, with only minor breaks. Congrats to RosaVerde!!!! This is great news. it was really hard for her to decide, but it ended up being mostly a gut feeling (plus a few incredible offers from UCLA). she liked the students and atmosphere better at LA than SF, and was already living in LA. She also liked the curriculum better at LA than SF.

I am indeed OOS (assuming that means out of state?) I am a New York resident. I know they told us at the interview that the OOS factor gets eliminated prior to interview selection, but who really knows, right?

NYC, that sounds amazing! I am planning on heading down to Peru for 5 weeks or so to handle part of my travel bug, although I am not sure I will ever get it out of my system =)

So I called the admissions office today and got a little info. I was told that a rather large batch of acceptances was sent out last week, and it will be what sounded like a couple weeks before they hear back from everyone/know how many more spots they have to offer. (I mentioned that I have to let a different school know about their waitlist by the end of next week, and the answer was that there will definitely not be more news before then.) I was also told there was "plenty of time" before the 2nd week in August (when my current acceptance starts), so it sounds like there definitely will be some more movement at some point.

Thanks for all the support, everyone, but we might have to uncross our fingers for a couple weeks. 🙄

Umm, I mean mentally try to move on and get settled at the school you are already accepted at....Definitely don't have to give up ever (until school starts=)), but after talking to a bunch of waitlisters from last year, they all recommended setting a date to ease the mind...

Given that it's mid-June and there are lots of folks on the top half of the waitlist who haven't heard back, I think it's pretty safe to rule out UCSF. There are always miracles, but I wouldn't bank on them.

I feel for you: I'm a fellow ugly side of the waitlister too. Do you have other options in hand?

Yeah, but hoping all the time saps my energy 🙂

Based on SDN, waitlist movement is slower than usual at almost all the top schools this year. I guess we'll see if it picks up. I'll probably hang out another month or so before putting a deposit down on a place to live.

Just talked with Kathy Ryan in admissions again today. She said there has been a little bit of movement over the past 2 weeks since the big batch of acceptances and there will very likely be more...it's not time for the list to stop moving yet, based on previous years. The message was basically to just keep waiting. I don't even know why I call 🙄

Believe it or not (I still don't quite believe it), I got an email tonight offering me a spot in the class. I am beyond ecstatic and will definitely be attending.
