Hey all!....i know there have been a lot of people who have submitted secondaries for UCSF (and i know i was stressing about not getting one for a long time 😉...)...but....they seem pretty selective about who they give them out to......
Does a secondary from them pretty much mean ur invited to interview or?

I doubt it. I thought a lot of people got them?

I'm pretty sure as long as you meet their minimum requirements you get a secondary.

I know for a FACT that UCSF will send you a secondary if you meet the minimum requirement! It is not selective.

How were you denied? Your stats are off the hook!!!!! QR, no one gives a damn. I will just expect a rejection now haha at least I don't have to wait for the disappointment.

I had mentioned in the official interview/acceptance thread my best guess is that I was denied because I am a non-traditional applicant - 31 and second career.

I have 6 non-A grades out of >200 college credits, none lower than a C and graduated with honors. I submitted great letters and have some (albeit not extensive) research & shadowing experience.

Despite being a very serious student, I have not always planned to be a dentist so my guess is that UCSF is not interested in my type of application.

I know it is a very competitive school and only serious, quality applicants are accepted there. Due to my non-traditional application, I thought I might not get in there but I was expecting at least a wait-list position before being denied.

I'm sure other UCSF applicants with lower stats but a deeper history of pursuing dentistry will still be invited for an interview. It definitely shows that stats aren't everything.
