".If you wish to update or expand upon your activities, you may submit a supplemental list (maximum two pages) to be returned with the documents listed above."

should we do that?.

did anyone not get one from ucsf? I was verified around 6/24 and have high stats.

in state 37Q 3.8

I'm instate and 38Q, 3.8. Anyone else not get it yet?

in state, 3.9, 38P

I got mine today as well. In state 31R 3.79 GPA. Is this low by UCSF secondary standards?

status still says "reviewing" 40/3.85 OOS

Did any OOS people get one? Oh well.

anyone doin that?

jesus christ. hearing you guys/gals rattle off these numbers makes me proud to be from san francisco, and helps temper any disappointment i might have from seeing my application being automatically sent to the shredder.

Is the secondary just standard operating procedure (LORs, etc...) except for the optional essay?

I need some input. The UCSF Secondary has this to say about letters of rec: "If a central office (Premedical Health Careers, etc) at your undergraduate school offers a letter service, you are required to use it."

My undergraduate school does have a letter service through the Career Center, but all my letters are in Interfolio. Does this mean they won't accept my letters from Interfolio?

have any OOS ppl gotten the secondary yet? and for the ppl who just posted on this thread saying that they have received the UCSF secondary...what was the chronology of the process (when did UCSF first say it was under review and when did u receive the secondary?)

they received my AMCAS data on 7/10, received the secondary invite on 8/6, though I'm IS, so the timeline may be a bit different for OOS folks

Did UCSF send you an email saying that they received your AMCAS? I got verified on 7/17 and haven't heard anything from them.

Anybody know when UCSF notifies applicants of pre-secondary rejections? Is the notification late (like in the fall or winter), or do they let you know soon?

Verified this morning; no word from them yet. 3.75, 34T, IS.

Verified 7/10.

No secondary.

Instate: 3.63 BCPM, 37 MCAT

🙁🙁🙁🙁🙁

Ok, I've summed up an answer for some people...

It seems that...
If you were verified before mid-July?
If you just need the upper in one or the other at the least and not fall below 30 or 3.5?
If you were in-state.
you may have received the UCSF secondary

**If you contradict then maybe some "rejections" or "holds" can be revealed.

I don't have time to read much more and make speculations. 😛
As for the additional comments, it's not a formal essay so don't treat it like that. They do not really request for more information. The AMCAS is enough for them. They request updates, if you have them. It's basically a signature and check.

didnt get it yet either, similar stats to drizzt, instate. does this mean we got screened out or do we still have a chance? IIRC the website says you can get one up to 12 wks after they receive the primary or something.

I'm so confused. Did you not hear what I said? When were you verified? I have an additional speculation. MSTP (or whatever) were not chosen yet.

They probably just send out the secondaries in batches. Maybe the first batch was everyone instate verified before a certain date with >3.6 and >30. I'm not worried. There was some guy last year who was ACCEPTED at UCSF with 3.4/35, so I'm assuming ppl with 3.5/39 will eventually get the secondary and still have a solid chance.

Someone posted in the MSTP forum last night that they received a secondary - no response yet as to whether they were IS or OOS.

There is no way to make any assumptions. UCSF screens on much more than numbers. If it was numbers only would it really take them 3-12 weeks to review your app?

I guess this is fair assumption, but if you met all my criteria and did not get it (I really wonder if you are just at some verified date batch rather than you were overlooked, which was one of my bullets). If you did get verified in June, then I guess there is more to it. My stats are below the average of the posters. I have hope for people who think they're the shiz 😛 (not trying to be offensive about you or anyone else).

Well, my point was that they don't send out all the secondaries right away. Maybe they do send them out in the order of desirability of the candidates after a qualitative screen, but it seems likely that the first screen will be numeric. I mean, we got the emails saying that they had received our AMCAS applications around 7/17, which is about three weeks ago. Is it possible they read all the AMCAS apps and were able to make qualitative decisions about 3000+ applications? Sure, but I think it's more likely they just took a batch of people whose scores fall in the "acceptable range" and sent them the secondary, and will look more closely at the pool for the next batch of secondaries, and so on and so forth. I realize my GPA is lower than the average for USCF matriculants but I don't think I'm being overly confident in anticipating a SECONDARY. Just off the top of my head, it seems that every who had received it is > 3.7 and > 3.0, at least the people posting in this thread, though, so those may be the screen numbers for the first batch of secondaries.

No that's exactly what I'm saying. My application was "received" 7/10, verified "6/18". It could be that they have not read yours yet. I don't believe it is qualitative and I do believe its numeric for the first screen. They didn't read them all. ALL the UCs read them linearly based on their verified date (as this correlates to their receipt). It is possible they have not hit your application yet.

No, I believe you WILL get a secondary. 😛 I said OR in my list of things; I do not believe you need BOTH exceptional GPA and MCAT to get a secondary. If you have a high something or other you should get one. 😛 I think we agree on a lot of things. I wasn't trying to say you were screened, but if they reviewed you and didn't offer you a secondary it's usually bad news. So I believe they have not done so yet. This is what I mean by batches. They look at the first 100 and send out qualified applicants, etc. etc.

Why the hell don't I have a secondary? Im in-state, 38Q, 3.8, verified around 6/20. I doubt they screen beyond numbers in the 3 weeks since that email they sent, but even if they did, I don't think I have bad non-numbers stuff.

True. I was verified 6/12 or so, but I received the notice from UCSF on 7/17. I'm not sure if people got it earlier than me or what. I got the other screened UC secondaries so I'm not really worried that I won't get this one. I dunno, I was just saying that it's possible the screen for the first batch might be all the apps above 3.7/31.

I think there's also a bit too much overanalysis on this thread already haha

Wow. This guy may have thrown everything I said out the window. Are you MSTP? 😛 I'm sure you'll get one, but did you check your spam box?

LoL. Yeah. 😛 It was fun for a while, but now it's just frustrating. I hate to see great scholars like yourself that do not get something I would get. 😛 I'm not INCREDIBLY impressive, but I do make your cut.

i did, but none of us can know for sure whether we got screened out since we dont know their criteria unless we know that they're only sending one batch of secondaries. that was why i asked my question. i was verified about 7/10, give/take a few days.

I'm fairly certain they send more than one batch of secondaries, especially since NO ONE that is OOS has received a secondary regardless of stats.

I think we have more than 6 OOS people posting in this thread... that's the number of OOS who attend UCSF every year... (about)

goodluck to all!

that's true, but for my own selfish reasons i hope they're also sending more batches of in-state secondaries.

Um. Batches for UCs usually mean verified date. They have an electronic stack when they visit AMCAS. They then start reading and sorting. Yes, I do believe OOS are totally on another stack. I was strictly speaking to IS students. When I say more than one batch I mean they have looked at the next group of applicants as people are still applying. Verification is a good indicator, but I wonder if anyone after my verification date was given a secondary. It is POSSIBLE that they stopped reading 6/18-6/20 taking into consideration the stellar guy up there 🙂.

O they will. So help me I'll figure out why you didn't get one yet 😀.

haha thanks. 🙂 i need to chill out. i think everytime i read/hear about people getting secondaries/interviews that i havent gotten, i get really worried about my app. if i keep being liek this its going to be a lllooonnnggg year.

I'm in state, applying MSTP, verified 7/19 and received UCSF secondary yesterday - hope this helps some people trying to figure out a timeline for receipt of secondary.
